Amazing experience, me and my friend went to SpeedSkills for a 2 days escape and evasion course. Mick and Andy are very knowledgeable and explain things in great details - so you can actually understand the logic behind. Fun and very enjoyable. Highly recommended to professional and even ordinary drivers (like us) who want to enhance their skills/ learn something different and have some fun!

A series of fabulous days out. Been with friends, work and organised trips for Advanced Driving groups. Mick, Andy, Mary and the team always look after us so well. One of the best driving experiences I've ever done and the skills have helped kept me safe especially in icy conditions in Iceland. #Remembertobreathe #PoorTeddy :-(

Absolutely excellent coaching by Mick and Andy. A brilliant day was had by all and Teddy survived :)) I had attended one stunt car driving event previously at Silverstone which I loved, but Speed Skills was a lot more competitively priced and was a full day event from 9am-4pm whereas the Silverstone one was only 3 hours. The location was excellent, food and drinks were included in the price and the circuits were extremely well thought out. I can’t wait to come back for Teddy’s revenge 🐻 !!

I completed a speedSkills course today and had an absolutely brilliant time. I've done a fair bit of "advanced" driving, most of which has been done on the road. I've also done a few track days, driving fast cars around racecourses. None of these compared to what I experienced today. speedSkills "Anti Hi-Jack" course is very different and a driving experience, in my opinion, like no other. You start the day at Bovingdon Airfield - a huge space well known for its massive market, as a VRP for pilots and as a DME device / transceiver station for a range of radio systems. The point I'm making... It's an airfield and you're there to drive. Don't expect red carpet and cashmere sofas! When you turn up there's cars, containers and basic provisions. That said, there was absolutely more than acceptable facilities, with some awesome bacon rolls, tea and coffee etc greeting you as you arrive, which makes you feel immediately welcome and comfortable from the start. I went on my own and hadn't met the people I was with throughout the day before. You then go through a quick safety briefing, which is lightweight and common-sense based (not a range of long winded videos from the '90's). You're then introduced to your instructors. The instructors we had today were all serving and / or ex-Law Enforcement driving specialists, although I'm not sure if this is the case on every course. They were therefore not only highly trained but were also really approachable and clear / concise in their direction - something that was really important to the overall experience of the day. Their careers and training allow you to get a lot out of it. After the intro you're split into teams and taken out in some vehicles! You start with some demonstrations of fundamentals - understeer, oversteer, general handling etc - before you're almost immediately handed the controls! They're not worried about vehicle sympathy or what it costs them - the attitude is more "drive it like you stole it" and get the most out of the course as opposed to "please don't break our vehicles", which makes it loads more fun. They have an impressive number of cars available on-site and it's made clear that they're there to drive and for you to learn - tires will blowout, brakes will smoke etc, and it's not a problem at all. I won't go into detail about the driving specifically as every course may not be the same, but you cover the basics of vehicle control and manoeuvres before moving onto some more advanced techniques. I found a really good balance of demonstration and driving. You don't want to be a passenger all day but it's also hard work and don't want to be constantly driving. The mix was perfect and this is obviously a course the instructors have honed over time. There's a decent lunch - burgers, salad spread, tea and coffee etc - again all really good and more than acceptable. Whilst you're eating the instructors set Part 2 of the course up, which leads into an awesome way of putting your new skills into practice! Putting it all together makes you realise how many new things you've learnt throughout the day and the afternoon was probably some of the best fun I've ever had driving vehicles. The skills demonstrated by all the instructors makes you instantly realise that you're being taught by some of the best. Their experience, the expansive location and setting all combine to make this a really valuable and highly entertaining day. You have a tonne of fun but also learn some seriously good skills which may save you / your families / a pedestrians life one day. After the driving it's a quick meet-up for a debrief, say your goodbyes and off you go! All in all it's a truly awesome day which teaches you new skills and provides a seriously good time! Our group ranged from the young to the old(er!), from teenagers to the retired. Every attendee had an exceptionally good time, which speaks a lot for the wide appeal of the course and the way in which it was delivered. So the conclusion is... Highly recommended and will definitely go again!
