So me and the wife spend nearly £400 on 2 sets of glasses each, order them and upon collection of one of my sets I noticed that they were not the ones that I ordered so they apologised and said I could keep the glasses and they would order me the ones I wanted. That I can accept as mistakes happen, I waited another week and my wife collected my correct pair, upon wearing them I noticed that the replacement pair didn't have the anti glare coating that I had paid for, when I called to notify spec savers a guy laughed and said my you're not having much luck are you, funny enough I didn't see the funny side of this, so I took them back to the store and the manager apologised and said they would get a new pair sorted out ASAP, and said I could have a £50 refund for my inconvenience, which I accepted but would get it when I collect my glasses, so I turn up on Saturday to collect my glasses and when I enquired about the refund I was told, I couldn't get one today as they didn't have any one available to authorise it, which I find absurd, so I had to wait until today to finally receive my refund. Being a spec saver customer for years they usually very good this experience however has put me off and I will be going elsewhere in the future.

First had an appointment cancelled on the 27th of February once id arrived at shop. I accepted this and booked again, today Friday 17/03 i arrive for for 9.40 appointment, and not booked in, i had a email Thursday reminding me and one Tuesday saying they were looking forward to seeing me. Absolute shambles

Not as good as it used to be. It's so busy it's lost its personal touch and good service. I will say all staff are brilliant, I think mistakes are being made as its just too busy. I picked 2 glasses, was left, the guy never came back. Didn't have any advice or opinions like they used too. A mistake was made and my 2 different makes of glasses wasn't ordered properly. They ordered 2 copies of one of the makes. No call to say they arrived, I had to call, and we've now had to pay twice for parking and had to get help from husband to go there for me twice now today. And now will have to do it all for a third time as they wont deliver, despite it being their mistake. I'm not happy and hope it settles down to how good it was. But I don't know if I'll be back to this store, despite it being down the road from me. They have ordered another pair and upgraded them for free (lighter frames etc). But I didn't get to try them on, so I've had to choose them from my husband sending me pictures as I don't know what the original 2nd pair was. I've worked retail and I can see this isn't malice or laziness. I genuinely think this is budget cuts, alot more work load and possibly targets. So I just hope the staff get treated better and the store can improve. EDIT: I would like to add everything that has been done to rectify the mistake has really shown how good the staff and store are. And how much they care. Thank you to Jade for personally delivering my new glasses, the upgrades and the lens cleaners etc. It shows this store cares and I will definitely be sticking with them in the future.

I have been using the Canvey branch for years. From the minute I step inside I feel like a special customer. Nothing is too much effort.. all the staff are lovely but I must confess Ian stands out. He looks immaculate and boy does he know his business. His secret - he cares. Well done everyone.

I popped into specsavers to try and see if they could fix my hinge on my glasses ( purchased from them ) first off the guy at the counter said if they had the frames the lenses could be swapped , he started to look to see in the racks in the shop if they were there , then finally concluded that they didn't have them . He told me to go round other branches of specsavers to see if they had them on stock ! I asked couldn't he just call round he told me they were a franchise and didn't share information from branch to branch . Ok I said I'll just order new glasses but then he told me my eye test had expired ( may 2012 was the last test do not long out of date) and that they couldn't fit me in for a test till the following week . Ok so I asked for my prescription as again I was told that information was not shared from branch to branch ... it took them then over half an hour to give me a print out of it . I went to another branch in Basildon they fitted me in and as if my magic they had all my details online and told me that the frames I had were long discontinued .. so not only was I lied to at canvey but my time was wasted ... zero customer service at the canvey branch ... avoid at all costs ... this branch is not doing the specsavers brand any favours , but the people at specsavers sainburys cricketers retail park were helpful and 5 star
