FAQ

How do you determine who is eligible to receive assistance from your soup kitchen?

At Southwark Foodbank, we work with local agencies and organizations to identify individuals and families who are in need of food assistance. We have a referral system in place, where individuals are referred to us by these agencies and organizations, such as housing associations, job centers, and medical professionals. We do not determine eligibility on our own, but rather rely on these agencies and organizations to ensure that those who receive our assistance truly need it.

How do you ensure the safety and hygiene of the food served at your soup kitchen?

At Southwark Foodbank, we take the safety and hygiene of the food we serve very seriously. We follow strict food safety regulations and guidelines set by the government and local authorities. All of our food is carefully inspected and sorted before being served, and we have a team of trained volunteers who oversee food preparation and serving. We also have procedures in place for handling and storing food to ensure that it remains fresh and safe to eat.

How can I volunteer or donate to support your soup kitchen's mission?

We greatly appreciate any and all support for our mission to combat hunger in our community. If you are interested in volunteering, you can visit our website or contact us directly to learn more about opportunities to help out. We also accept donations of non-perishable food items, as well as monetary donations that help us purchase essential items for our food bank. You can find more information on how to donate on our website.

Does your charity have any partnerships or collaborations with other organizations or companies, and how do they benefit the cause?

Yes, we have partnerships and collaborations with a number of organizations and companies that share our mission to combat hunger and support our local community. These partnerships help us to increase our reach and impact, and allow us to provide even more support to those in need. For example, we work with local supermarkets and food distributors to receive donations of surplus food, and we partner with schools and community centers to host food drives and raise awareness about hunger in our community.

How often can I receive assistance from the food bank?

At Southwark Foodbank, we do not have a set limit on how often individuals can receive assistance from us. We understand that individuals and families may experience unexpected financial difficulties or emergencies that require them to seek food

Never ever get anything from this place .this organisation is a joke . Food bank and Pantry. You have go to the citizens advice centre ,wait 3 hours to get a ticket to take pecan but it will be close to food on that day. The Pantry is just basic essentials you normal get from other food banks places. I seen lot of food especially alot of their churches where Evan host them is a joke too.
