The booth to buy tickets and ask questions is never open. Only one ticket machine (exceptionally slow) working so massive queue to buy tickets... people not able to make it onto train on time.....get your act together c2c.

A small and serviceable station for commuters taking expensive train rides. Note there’s stair access only if travelling east. Area the station in is very rough after dark. Station is easier to jump the fence/barriers than Southend Central so plenty of riff raff outside of rush hour times.

I would like to thank the security guard Nicholas at the Southend East station, he is extremely helpful and kind. I left my keys on the train and was told by one of the staff member in the ticket office that there's no one available in the final station who can help me in retrieving my keys. I was panic and Nicholas offered to assist me although this is clearly not his job. He helped me to calm down and assisted me to obtain a ticket to get to the final station. I did what he said and when I arrived at the final station - shoeburyness, the cleanning team members found my keys and returned this to me. I am very grateful for their assistance and their prompt action in picking up my item, otherwise my keys would have gone with the train to London and I have no keys to go home. Thank you C2C for your amazing staff support!
