I entered the station on the Shoebury-bound side. "Oh, no," I thought. "I need to be on the London-bound platform for although I might not be going to London I am heading in that general direction. What the heckintash am I supposed to do now? My foolish behaviour will be the very end of me, I fancy." I phoned my ol' Dutch and briefly outlined my predicament. "Babe," she said, "Babe - why don't you use the tunnel to cross over to the other platform? By so doin' you'll be on the right platform to enable your London-bound journey to continue without hindrance even though you're not actually going to London but just trav'lin in that general direction." "It's a long shot..." I said doubtfully, "but it might just work." Anyway, as we all know, fortune favours the brave, so I walked through the connecting tunnel and, well - all good! Phew, eh?
