Despite having to operate out of a different section of the building today (20/04/23 Thu...structural issues in the regular donation site) the team were their usual excellent and professional selves....top marks for the reception team for adapting to their new role so admirably. It's operational units like this that make you proud of the NHS; well done team.

the people who work here are amazing. i went to donate blood for the first time and was greeted by the friendliest receptionist that kept thanking me for being here. i was then put primarily under the care of a nurse called debbie, who was one of the nicest, funniest and most incredible people i've ever had the pleasure of meeting. she made the entire experience so lovely, even though i was super nervous at the beginning. because of how amazingly i was looked after, i have been telling as many people as i can to donate - especially here - because it was honestly just such a wonderful experience. the team there all worked so hard and ensured everyone was well looked after and felt secure. i can't recommend this place enough if you are looking to donate. thank you for everything.

My daughter has received almost 40 blood transfusions in the last 3 months being in hospital. It’s places like this that have helped to save her life. I’ve been unable to donate blood but I’ve sent friends and family in and they’ve had very positive experiences of donation.

Sam on reception was a lovely friendly guy, just the type of person you’d like to see when it’s your first time donating. Procedures were explained and I was offered a snack and told the importance of drinking a pint of water/squash beforehand.

January 2022..There is a sign on the wall that says not all superheroes wear capes and that is how the donors are treated here.I signed up in March 2021 and donated whole blood but will be donating plateletsif I can.The staff are really great and they really do look after us.If you truly want to do something good consider being a blood donor. It doesn't hurt, and it is a really good excuse to take care of myself so I can donate with confidence and know that my blood can save lives. You might ask how long the process takes.About an hour and because I have good veins the actual donation process took a grand total of six minutes last time and with whole blood I could only donate every three months so my body could recover. The platelet donation will take a little longer, between an hour and a half to two hours and can be a lot more frequent.See you there maybe. 20th August 2022.Today I became a platelet donor for the first time and did a triple donation and forgot to ask how many people this would help.It took a mere 75 minutes of my time and one of the nurses explained how the machine worked. The previous donation attempt was stopped during the haemoglobinn test when the nurse spotted small part of the scab from a tiny cut on my arm had fallen away.Presumably this had happened in the shower at home,so now I had an open wound.Today was a good day.The nurse held the collection bags and told me they were beautiful.Platelets are yellow by the way.
