when i phoned to ask about an appt asap ( i was in a lot of pain) the receptionist was extremely kind and then Mr Gauntlett rang me back soon after my call to let me know there was a cancellation later that day. When i saw him he examined and explained what had happened to my foot and was very reassuring and encouraged me to continue as actively as possible, to think positively, which was very encouraging.

Identified the issue with my ankle immediately, gave advice and treatment. I was satisfied with this and, following confirmation from King's Urgent Care, returned for a further course of treatment to promote healing. Everything explained clearly. Very happy with the service received.

Last year I was experiencing severe pain deep in the back of my left thigh. This had been getting progressively worse and had reached the point where, if I sat for longer than 30 minutes, the pain became so strong that I had to get up and walk around to ease it a little. Even then I was still in pain. Driving for any distance became impossible as the pain was so distracting. I could not walk any great distance or bend my legs to put on my socks. It also disturbed my sleep. I had tried physiotherapy but to no avail. I then thought maybe my gait was a bit off and was causing the pain by throwing extra weight onto my left leg. At this point I went to see Peter. At my first consultation Peter quickly identified that I had fasciitus plantaris. In my own lay terms this meant that the fascias, the skin covering over my muscles, had, in a number of places, become attached to the muscles themselves. As I sat the attachments became twisted and hence the pain. He also confirmed that my gait was a bit out. Turned out that one of my legs was shorter than the other and hence I was walking lopsided. This as further exacerbating my leg pain. Peter cured my fasciitus by probing my thigh, lower leg and foot to find a point that was very tender. This was where the fascia was attached to my muscle. He then dug into and massaged that point. This was painful at the time but each time the pain very quickly wore off. Over a number of months, coupled with stretching exercise that he changed as my treatment progressed, and with inserts he provided for my gait. It took a few goes until I noticed the pain diminishing but in the end the pain began to reduce until it eventually completely disappeared. Its brilliant now be able to walk, drive, sit and sleep without pain and to be able to put my socks on again!

After experiencing a persistent problem with my foot which was really affecting my quality of life, I felt hopeful when I came across this clinic's website and thought Peter might understand my issue, but I cannot express how disappointed I was. I explained to Peter that I was struggling with posterior tibial tendinopathy linked to an accessory navicular bone, as well as retrocalcaneal bursitis (all confirmed by MRI). I explained that I was particularly seeking shockwave therapy. Peter didn’t seem to really listen to me or take any history, he seemed to just jump to his own conclusions. Over the three appointments I had, he kept forgetting basic, important facts about my problem (not seeming to have made or read any notes). He asked to take a copy of my MRI report but then lost it. I found his manner quite dismissive. Although I had clear tendinopathy / bursitis, Peter just offered me mobilisation. Forgetting everything I had told him, he then told me there was nothing really wrong with my foot and that the problem was psychological, which he then backtracked on when he decided to do an ultrasound (right at the end of our third meeting). I tried to raise these concerns with Peter through email but was either ignored or just got a curt one line reply, there was no care or empathy. He also said I shouldn't expect him to remember everyone, even though it is his professional duty to keep notes on his patients. I feel I’ve wasted money and that he actually did more harm to me than good in terms of his lack of care and professionalism. I fully expect to receive a defensive comment from Peter to this review, taking no responsibility for the upsetting experience I had. I’ve just seen the response to this saying that I should have made a complaint. I did try to make a complaint! I emailed with a formal complaint but surprise surprise I only received a one line email back from Peter. I had asked for the formal complaints procedure but wasn’t given anything.

I attended the clinic due to soreness around the nail of one of my toes that was preventing me from walking properly, and had impacted my ankle. One arrival, the receptionist was pleasant and I was made to feel welcome by Peter. After assessing the affected toe, Peter was able to remove a small build-up of callus, recommended adequate footwear, but admitted that there was not a lot more that he could do for me. I appreciated his honesty! We also spoke about the possibility of removing an ingrown toenail, for which he explained the approach that would be taken and the procedure involved. I left the clinic being able to walk much better and without the sharpness of skin or nail irritating my toe. Although the toe still feels sore, it is less painful and I am able to get about more. I am however, keeping a watchful eye on it. Thank you, Peter!

The extremely painful plantar fasciitis in my right foot was impacting all aspects of my life. Fortunately, I decided to seek professional help, rather than just muddle through it and hope that it would sort itself out. I can't recommend Peter highly enough - his treatment was calm and professional, and crucially, it was highly effective.
