Donald is an incredibly knowledgable and communicative person. From the beginning, he made it clear that his engineer would do an initial look through of our Rank Arena RA2100 (that is over 50 years old) and give us a quote for the repairs. The fee for the initial diagnostics was even deductible from the total repair fee if we decided to go ahead—which we did. The initial quote was very reasonable, however, the repair turned out to be far more extensive than his engineer had expected. Donald was honest with us and didn't even charge us for the full cost of the repair. I would not hesitate to bring any of my vintage hi-fi equipment back to him for repair or refurbishment. I am the second person I know who has had great results from Sound Aid. Honestly, I don't think there is even another business which takes on this kind of work in Scotland!

I would highly recommend Sound Aid to anyone needing any vintage audio equipment repaired or serviced. Also they happen to be local to me (Dundee) which was even better. Donald took my old mid 90’s Arcam Alpha 9 and made her sound brand new again after a thorough service. Excellent work and communication throughout the whole process! I’ll definitely be putting more work his way. Vintage hifi is not everyone’s specialty but your equipment is in safe hands at Sound Aid. Many thanks 🙏

I took my Behringer amp here in November/ December last year for investigation of a fault and possible repair. Met Donald and from the get go found this man to be pleasant and very informative. Took my details and kept me fully updated how progress was going, the fault was diagnosed and repaired...and I couldn't be happier. I can be very critical of things...just check my reviews on Trip advisor..but here i had no complaints. Great service...fantastic prices....and won't hesitate to use them again. Donald....I am very grateful for your services. Thank you.

I needed my separates hi-fi system serviced and fixed including a 40 year old BASF tape deck, a mini disc player and a Sony tape deck to looked at. Tried different services across Scotland and they all refused to even look at them because “their are ancient and there is no parts for them anymore they all said”. So I almost give up hope and put them in the skip, that’s when I come across with Sound Aid in Dundee. Donald and his team took on the job, and said they will try their best and get back to me. And within a few days later all my loved machines were like new!! I was very surprised and they put a huge smile on my face! Because of the exceptionally good job I’m able to listen my old tapes again and I tell you the house is shaking… Thanks again for your service keep up the good work! So if you have an “ancient” machine needed fix/service then stop looking further. Sound aid is the answer. Don’t bother going rounds in other places trust me, waste of time. I’m dealing with Music and clubs since 1994 so I know a good quality service when I see one!

I contact Sound Aid to see if they could restore my old Pioneer A400 amp back to health. 2 other companies had attempted a repair but I wasn't happy with the results. I had almost resorted to plonking it on ebay for spares when I came across Sound Aid. They had it for a few days, called me and said its ready to pick up. The result is fantastic. I've had this amp for almost 30 years and it sounds as good as it ever did. I think it sounds better than my new Naim Nova. To say I'm chuffed to bits is an understatement. I've already passed their details to a few mates. If you need something fixed then use these guys, I'm sure you'll be happy.

I can completely recommend Donald and the team at Sound Aid. I had recently returned to Scotland from Sydney, and I had had some Tannoy speakers and a Audio-Technica record player that needed looked at. Within 7-10 days, they were returned to me, looking and sounding as good as new. All done with a friendly disposition, it was a 10/10 experience for me.

Contacted sound aid regarding an old pannasonic surround system. They couldn't have been more helpful and honest. They approached several engineers and sent me their feed back and were honest in advising it would not be financially viable to do the repair. Would recommend them to anyone for an honest opinion.
