Somewhere House not only physically saved my life, but they have helped me rebuild my life. When I arrived at Somewehere House, the only thing I cared about and lived for was my addiction, and I was too blind to realise that it wasn't just my alcohol and chemical dependence that was destroying me, it was me. Somewhere House isn't just a treatment centre, I found my recovery family. From the moment I walked through their doors, I was made to feel at home, safe and a part of the family. I went into treatment with a rucksack full of heartache and traumas. They helped me unpack that, process and let go, leaving it with them, and instead I have left with a tool box full of knowledge to use along the way as I continue my recovery. I know I will always have somewhere I can go that is safe and I will be welcomed home, if ever I need it. Below is my before picture taken 22.10.22 and today 09.02.23, 110 days clean and sober. Somewherehouse has given me hope and belief in myself again. I have been to rehab before but the experience at swh was totally different it made me look at myself and the traumas which effected my life and the traumas which I carried which wasn't mine. At somewherehouse they gave me the opportunity to stay and rebuild my life at burnham on sea. The staff are always been supportive every step of the way. I am 1 year sober and clean and enjoying having my life back. All thanks to somewherehouse ❤ x

I was diagnosed with complex PTSD following the events of my stay here. I am still rebuilding my life following my stay 3 years later. I am non Binary. I have Gynocamastia and I was preparing myself for gender reassignment. They tried everything to stop me self actualizing. It's only now that I'm finally about to start hormones. The star is for Shaun and Mandy. They tried at least.

Update 2022: Over 5 years clean & sober 😊 * * * 2017: When I literally had nothing left, Somewhere house gave their hand and saved my life. They gave me the opportunity of facing my addictions and problems rationally. I cannot describe the warmth that they gave and continue to give. I never had a family 👨👩👧👦 or somewhere I felt secure till I came here. I felt wanted. I'm treated as a human being here, with feelings, and they tailored to my needs and disabilities. I cannot thank the staff and all the peers I have had the pleasure of coming across, thank you! My recovery journey has only just started 💪

I was going to fo my work placement as volentry support but was a bit to far for me. shame as the staff were lovelly and clients. was made to feel very welcome as was very anxious when i came for interview as didnt know what to expect. It was unfortunatly the wrong type of care work but you never know till you try . Thankyou Angie and team for giving me the oppurtunity to atleast try . This was way before covid . Since then i have completed my adult health and social care fully and look forwad to.pursuing this futher . Best wishes Alex
