I have recently completed an adult autism assessment with SAAS, after referring myself. Although it's a bit difficult to give a 5star rating (because I have nothing to compare with), I think it's justified because: 1. Communication was prompt and accurate at all times - I also really appreciated that they asked what was my preferred style of contact, and then actually respected that and kept to only emails. 2. Assessment was completed in the timescales mentioned on their website. 3. Process felt non-confrontational and non-judgemental - whilst that might be the least you would expect, it's still nice that these standards are achieved. I can't remember ever really speaking more honestly, and feeling comfortable doing so. 4. Lots of signposting to further info, and very willing to answer questions throughout the process. I would recommend SAAS to anyone who has found themselves wondering why they seem to think/operate differently to other people, or why the world doesn't always make sense. There may be many answers to these questions, but looking inward can be a helpful starting point.

I was diagnosed with autism as a 42 year-old. The lead up to the realisation that I was autistic, after a lifetime of anxiety and depression was incredibly traumatic. However, Solihull Autism Assessment Service made me feel seen and cared for. They were incredibly professional but warm at the same time. They communicated with me via email and didn't telephone me out of the blue. Had sessions with three Doctors and each of them were kind, caring and allayed any fears/anxieties I had. I had the complete opposite experience with The Family Psychologist in Kidderminster so I can vouch 100% for Solihull Autism Assessment Service. Forever grateful for how I was treated.

My daughter is 16 and we were worried about having to wait too long for an assessment so discovering this service was wonderful and I have no doubt her diagnosis will make all the difference in the world. The process was nerve wracking for my daughter but all three doctors did a wonderful job of putting her at ease and she even enjoyed some of the process. They were also mindful of the challenges faced when diagnosing autistic girls. The final report was thorough with suggestions for school to put in place which were talked through with us first. We feel hugely optimistic about the future now we have a diagnosis and a way forward so thank you!

If we hadn't come across Solihull Autism Assessment Centre I know my life would not be what it is today. The diagnosis for my son took only 6 weeks and from beginning to end. We were met with kindness, patience and professionalism along the whole process as Zoe, Clair and team have such a depth of understanding of the autistic mind and the effect it has on those living with autism and those close to them. I would urge anyone needing a diagnosis to get in touch, you have nothing to loose but everything to gain.
