We enjoyed our stay at the Soar Mill. The food was good and the staff and service were excellent. We had an issue with the heating in our bedroom for two days. No heated towel rail which is nice to have even on warmer days, so as no using damp cold towels and the radiators were not working in our room. We told the reception staff who tried to help and report it, but up to the point of us leaving none of this was working and we were never given a reason why. Even in a small b and b one expects to have warm dry towels and the chance to put heating on in the evening, when the temperature drops. The scenery was lovely, but all the walking was up and down hill and rocky, so only suitable for the very able walker, which includes down to the cove.

Really friendly, helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Comfortable, spacious and clean rooms. We caught housekeeping rinsing the used mugs in the bathroom sink. One of our party shrugged it off and said it was probably standard practice. It grossed me out a bit. Stunning views of the sea, with cattle and deer in the foreground. Very private. Little play park for the kids. Small but adequate indoor pool (no toys). We were led to believe there was a tennis court but there wasn't. The food is very expensive. A bog standard cheese sandwich in white bread costs £10 for example. Parsnips were continuously undercooked. Otherwise food in general was pretty nice, though the desserts were a little underwhelming. Would consider going back. Very narrow lanes to get there but local towns and attractions not far. Good for walks. Beach very close.
