**I would not recommend working here** Worked for this company for 9months with no problems at all. They then introduced headsets to talk to one another, originally it was just for covid but it’s going to be carried on for the foreseeable future. I complained about them and refused to wear thembecause they caused me headaches and as a result I went off sick. I was given no support and eventually sacked because of it. The company is a global company yet they have old machine and very bad procedures. They have 5/6 buckets spread across the factory to catch leaks in the roof that haven’t been fixed in years. They have a machine where they have to lay a big sheet of cardboard underneath to catch all the off cuts which after each pallet or 1/2 a pallet they have to stop the machine and clean. One job is 40+pallets and they stop the machine every half a pallet to clean it out.. a lot of time wasted. The warehouse where raw material comes in is very unorganised. Sometimes waiting 45 minutes for your board even though you have given 1 hour notice of you needing this board soon. There’s two FLT drivers and only one knows where most of the board is, but when his on holiday it’s a nightmare, wait times for board goes north of 45 minutes.. The staff that work there are nice and helpful and the hours of work is good and also the pay is not too bad. I enjoyed it there until I was shafted and was given no help. ***in response to smurfit kappa reply*** If that was the case you would try and help an employee who was having problems rather than offer no support. Also if health and safety is your main priority, why do you still have loads of leaks which cause slip hazards and people bending over to clean a machine out every half a pallet which is causing unnecessary labour on that person and big holes (atleast 3inches deep)at the back of the printer slotter where employees can easily injure them selves. I complied with the mandatory safety requirements the time I was at smurfit, but when you brought in a new requirement after 9 months of me being there and I had not signed anything to say I would wear them, after I stressed how much they were hurting me I was offered no support and told other people have no problems with them.
