Shocking service from this company. Trying to tell a customer that a different driver dropped myself and colleagues off and another driver collected us. Absolutely ridiculous and even the deport manager says the same thing. Definitely avoid this company.

Absolutely appalling company. This is NOT a coach company, do not use them. After booking what seemed like a reasonable quote I was then quoted extortionate extras for tiny extra trips that they ignored in my first phone contact. Beware of this! Then cancelled and lost over £1,000 in deposit and 'booking fees' because of their disgraceful 'confirmed booking' small print. And yet still, it's cheaper to use a real coach company instead of SMC. My quotes went from £3,000 to £2,595 and from £900 to £480 just by using real coach companies instead. Don't use this company ever. Contact a real coach company. You'll save a fortune and get honest service.

The organisation I work for made a booking with this company. We booked a coach to take our Sheltered Accommodation residents to an evening Christmas concert; the coach did not show up and due to the business model, which this company operates, no one was available to let us know what had happened. Apparently, the driver had to attend to a personal emergency and was unable to complete the remainder of his bookings for the evening and a member of staff at the depot failed to make SMC Coach Hire London aware. As SMC Coach Hire London works as an agent, they provide customers with the direct number of the coach driver / company that they contract out to; the fundamental flaw with this approach is that due to their small staff complement of four, SMC Coach Hire London do not operate an out-of-hours service themselves / issue their own out-of-hours number. Therefore, if you book a coach for an out-of-hours’ time slot which does not materialise and the driver / subcontracted coach company then goes AWOL, you have no idea what is going on and are left high and dry! Staff and residents waited for the coach for an hour and a half on a bitterly cold evening; eventually we gave up. I believe that the way in which an organisation responds after they have provided poor service, says a lot about them. When I first contacted SMC Coach Hire London, they were very defensive and unapologetic and refused to discuss our case until a seven-day investigation had been carried out. Rather than take a conciliatory approach, the member of staff I spoke with, stated that when there is a problem with a booking, sometimes drivers turn up and no-one is there and that they then take pictures to prove their attendance, which was provocative remark to make and had nothing to do with our booking. We suffered a financial loss as we had purchased concert tickets. Due to the aforementioned loss and the upset caused by the coach not turning up, I asked SMC Coach Hire London if, by way of apology, they would make a modest donation to one of our residents' coffee mornings; their response was that they only have 3 - 4 problems with bookings each year and that they only provide refunds and do not provide compensation. Use SMC Coach Hire London at your own peril, especially if you want to make an out-of-hours booking!
