I bought a used Smart for 2 from Mercedes Milton Keynes, I went there because I assumed that the level of service and warranty would be worth the premium price of the car. Firstly after less than 8 weeks of owning the car the service light comes on, I contacted Mercedes MK and they agreed to pay for the service, although at my local Mercedes dealership, who tell me I need 3 new tyres. However MK Mercedes tell me they are within tolerance to leave the showroom. Someone is not being accurate in their assessment. I had to buy 4 new tyres before my MOT within 8 months of owning the car. I am still within warranty and now find the car has developed a high pitch whistle, so back to my local Mercedes dealership, not covered on warranty- there’s a surprise! So yet again a further expense out of my pocket. To date my used car has cost me almost £1K and still not had it a year. So I think the checks, the service and the warranty I got from Mercedes MK was not worth it, there are better dealerships out there!

Make sure you ask to physically see the service history before buying any car from Mercedes/Smart Milton Keynes! I purchased a used Smart Fortwo from here in October 2020 that had 40k miles on the clock. When doing the deal I enquired about the service history as there were no records in the documents folder, and I was assured that the car would have a full and up to date history and the records kept online and was promised a printout of the history when collecting the car. I forgot to ask for this when I actually collected it but thought I would just ask for it next time I took it in for service. 4 months after purchase and to my surprise a time based service interval popped up telling me the car would need servicing in a months time. This is despite me being assured the car would be serviced and the time interval between services supposed to be be 12 months. I contacted the service department to check if the service was done or not and to ask for the service printout for my car. No one could give me an answer and it took several phone calls before someone actually told me the car was not serviced before purchase and furthermore, that there was no service records held online for my car at all! On being told this I booked in for a full service at a different Smart dealer, who also confirmed to me there were no service records held at all for the car. It was even due to have recall work done which should have been sorted by Milton Keynes. Just to clarify: this was not a trade sale or anything like that, it was a car advertised on the Sytner website at full price with a full warranty! I have basically been sold a used car by a supposedly premium manufacturer with no service record at all, and no way of knowing if it had ever been serviced at all! I would NEVER have bought the car had I known this, and am worried about how I will sell the car on when I eventually decide to change cars. It will certainly lose a lot more residual value than it would have done had it had a full history. It is absolutely shocking that any reputable dealer would knowingly sell a car with no service history so beware! Unfortunately I accept have to take some responsibility as I should have demanded to see the service print out before paying for the car, and I have no proof that the original advert stated the car had a full history and I also have no way of proving the salesman told me that either. I genuinely feel like I have been properly stitched up. I did email the salesperson but never heard back, upon complaining to Sytner themselves I did hear back from the showroom manager who told me he would look in to it, that was over a month ago and I haven’t heard back since. My wife was looking to upgrade her car to an A class this year, but after this experience I don’t think we’ll be getting a Mercedes. All in all, I am shockingly disappointed at the customer service from this dealership. If you are thinking of purchasing a used car from them I would suggest you check the car and service history THOUROUGHLY before handing over any cash!

Paul in service was fantastic had a great experience booking the vehicle in. However collected my car this morning and it was like a completely different dealership. The guy who handed me my keys took me outside and walked me to the bottom of a long row of vehicles and said it should be down here somewhere apparently he had to go to his car which was more important than handing a vehicle back in the appropriate manner. Had an MOT and they haven't given me the certificate either he said they will print it and post it. Terrible service after it started out so well. Very disappointed.

Updated 13/07/19: Still no response to my email dated 27th June 2019. Clearly customer service is taking an early holiday break. Updated 02/07/19: (After replying in email to the reply of the one star review and still not having a response.) I came to Smart garage on 6th June after having filled out the online form the day before and phoning on the day of the 6th to make sure it was ok to come and view a specific car, a Smart forfour (the cheapest one on the forecourt). When I arrived there were no Smart salespeople around so I was seen to by chap from Mercedes. He spoke to me for a while, asked me lots of questions, filled out a profile of myself, we looked at the car I was hoping to trade in, a 2008 Toyota Aygo, took it for a drive up the road and back. Throughout my time with your salesperson, from the moment I made it clear that I didn't have a big budget (I was wanting to look at the cheapest Smart forfour after all), his body language and his attitude to me were one of 'I don't have time for you'. His answers were short, his ability to converse with me was not even present. After driving my car we proceeded to the Mercedes dealership where he got me to sit down and wait for the results of my trade-in value. He came back, told me how much monthly repayments were going to be and said he couldn't help. There was no discussion about the trade-in value, negotiating the purchase price, interest rate or length of the term. I still hadn't even been shown the Smart foufour at this point. After stating I would still like to see the car, he handed me off to another member of staff (not a salesperson), Alex. Alex was great, his attitude to me was friendly, polite, patient. He showed me the car (which had a flat battery and was blocked in by another car). I came away feeling like a sub-par human after my time with your salesperson. After making the 30 minute drive from Bedford to not be shown the car by a salesperson, not even hear the engine, and to be treated in that way I gave my visit there 1 star.
