Terrible..! To date I have been waiting over a year, (Jan 2022), since installation, for a N.I.C.C Certificate (Electrical Compliance and safety). The handover pack was so late in arriving, I have missed the ability to extend the warranty on the Inverter. The installation resulted in 27 rents in the roof membrane the largest of which required the threat of legal action to get paid for. On a plus side, the equipment supplied by "Givenergy" is outstanding. I cannot recommend this company. AVOID. Date of experience: 20 March 2023

Had my first contact with them in April 2022. Agreed for an installation date in June. Never happened. I was told is due to inverter supply issues, which is fair enough. Chased them several times for an estimate date, few times I was told I was next on their list and to wait for couple more weeks. That was back in September/October. I was lucky to double check the agreed contract, which was agreed for a 6.24 kwh installation, but on the actual contract was a 5.74 kwh system. I rang them and was told that they changed it because they didn't have the required panels. Without notifying me. They said £500 off from the original quote. Fair enough again, the same old "you're next on our list, just wait for a phone call within 2 weeks". In December I rang them again, was then told they don't actually have any installers available in the area (which is inside M25). It's end of January and I lost my hope that anything will happen with this company. Will request a refund for my deposit soon and see how efficiently they deal with it

The sales process was flawless. Very knowledgeable about their products and we were kept in the loop between the initial consultation and the installation date. Alex was the MVP of this part of the process. The actual system works and has already saved us a fair amount of money in the 2 weeks we've had it installed. We do have 2 less panels than originally agreed due to the measurements of our roof not being taken correctly but we were refunded for them straight away. Suggest that proper measurements are taken and not to solely rely on satellite images when doing the quotes. Unfortunately, the subcontracted installers left a drill hole in our roof (which was hidden by insulation being stuffed in to the hole) which has now caused water damage to the house. We contacted Smart Energy straight after we found the cause but have had an awful time getting someone to come fix it. Neither Smart Energy or the subcontractors are accepting responsibility for the hole despite it being directly above where they drilled to feed wires between the loft and the room below. After multiple emails and calls we've only managed to agree for someone to take a look, diagnose and take pictures but not to fix the hole they caused. The hole being there or the fewer number of panels aren't the reason for the 2 stars. Those things happen. The 2 stars is due to the reluctancy to fix the hole. It has really left a sour taste in the mouth and it's unlikely we'll be recommending Smart Energy to others as we had planned to. Edit 23/11: Dan from Smart Energy came out to look at the hole. Agreed that it was the fault of the installer and replaced the tile. Also took away the other broken tiles the installers left in a pile in the garden. A voucher was offered for our troubles. Bumped up to 4 stars as Smart Energy are good at what they do and were just let down by one installer. Edit 30/12: Over a month later and no sign of the voucher we were promised. Had to chance on a weekly basis. Also sent an email to Alex at the start of November with a few follow up questions but that went unanswered. They don't seem to care about you after they've got your money. Edit 18/01: Still no sign of the voucher that was promised after they drilled a hole in our roof. Constantly told it's coming or given excuses for the delay. Looks like they're just hoping we'd give up and forget about.

Sales experience was excellent - had a visit from Alex mid August and received a fantastic price. We paid a 20% deposit on the day and then waited. And waited some more. And waited some more. We were finally contacted mid November asking us to undertake a survey of our property (the same survey Alex had undertaken in mid August). By this point we had waited 13 weeks (we were originally told 12 weeks max) and they still could not offer an installation date or an idea of when we might be given one. At this point we decided to cancel and requested our deposit back. We were told this was no problem - but despite chasing twice we are still waiting for our deposit back over three weeks after cancelling. Don't give your money to this company unless you are happy sitting and waiting forever.
