We ordered bifold doors via a company who use Smart Architectural Aluminium. After waiting around 12 weeks we were told a couple of days before they were due to be installed that they had to be sent back as the quality wasn't right. We were then told we would have to wait several more weeks and were given a date. That date came and still they weren't ready. We were given another date, but when we rang the company we were buying from a few days before the doors were due to be installed, again they hadn't arrived. My husband rang the company today but they refused to speak to him and he was met with an incredibly rude and very unhelpful response. We have waited months for these doors now and cannot progress with our extension; we have arranged and had to cancel workmen to finish plastering, elecs etc three times, causing inconvenience for the tradesmen and for us as they are very busy and there is no guarantee they will be available when the doors finally arrive - if they ever do. We have known other people to order and have bi-fold doors fitted in about 3-4 weeks. we have now been waiting since October and still no definite actual date when they will arrive. Just keep being fobbed off with dates that they have no intention of keeping to. If they treat their customers the way they just treated my husband it won't be long before they have no customers left. I would urge you to look elsewhere if you are a manufacturer, installer or just a DIY-er.

I did a DIY install of Smart Systems Visofold 1000 bi-fold doors via conservatoryroofshop.co.uk a year ago. Very high quality product, one year on still feels like they will last forever. One of the seals arrived cut a little short and I couldn't reach conservatoryroofshop.co.uk so dropped Smart Systems sales an e-mail asking if I could purchase some spare seal and they immediately sent a good length for free. Excellent service. Thank you.

I found this company really disappointing to deal with. The first encounter was an enquiry and led to seeing installers of their systems. Most of the installers didn't really know if Smart could do what I wanted. When they say installers had show rooms – it was a lie. On a £2K job I had quotes from £1.8K to £2.5K. One company wasted my time because Smart gave me the commercial and domestic outlet who then refuse to deal with me because I queried the commercial status – bizarre! When I phone this company directly and spoke to the Technical Department they said email them and they would sort out what I wanted and could achieve but they never bothered to reply. In short the company cannot be bothered to relate to ‘Joe Public’ and I have found it to be one of the most insular companies I have tried to deal with. They probably are only geared to dealing with their installers but from comments here they don't appear to be able to police their own brand after installation. Just shocking and glad I didn't purchase.

Customer Service a Problem. Despite calling them Smart don't seem to have any after sales service, and don't want to know about putting faults right..... I've not even had a user manual or paperwork re the guarantee. Not good enough for premium product.....my advice think again before using Smart Aluminium.
