Picturesque views throughout. The architecture is phenomenal, and the surrounding gardens and woodland are excellent. There’s also a fairly large outdoor area for young children to play. It is however slightly on the pricier side at £24 per person but there is 1000 acres of footprint to explore so this can easily be a full day out.

Worth a visit for all. The house won't take you long to look around, but if that isn't your cup of tea then the grounds are plenty to explore. At a gentle pace you won't go far but will still see plenty, racing at top speed you there is lots of grounds, forests and meadows to discover. There are plenty of cafés, the food is great and staff friendly and helpful. But we warned - you won't leave with much spare change! Go on a quiet day and it's a lovely location, on busy days or events it can get a bit busy.

Castle Howard is a beautiful stately home and now managed by the Castle Howard Estate and members of the Howard family. Admission is quite expensive but you will need a full day to appreciate the house and gardens. Parking and cafe is good.

I’ve long promised to take my wife to Castle Howard having grown up as a child in the area.We would make a special occasion of it and book an overnight stay in a nearby hotel. A booking was made and paid for with a 2.00 pm arrival time as we were travelling a fair distance. At 5.00 pm the night before I received an email “hoping we were looking forward to our visit but a 2.00pm booking was no longer available as a private party had made a booking for that time.” This left us with the dilemma of cancelling our hotel booking and losing a considerable deposit or travelling down to the area and changing our plans, which we did. What an appalling way to treat potential customers. That such an error was made in the first place tells us a lot about the lack of oversight in the booking department and for that mistake to be highlighted with less than 24 hours notice. We could have left nhome a day sooner and been left completely unaware until we arrived at the door. How many people would have had a similar experience, we can’t be the only people requesting a 2 o’clock booking. A cavalier and thoughtless approach to customer care. We have no intention of rebooking!!!!!!
