My experience with Sky-House Co has been above what I would expect for a new house builder. I've bought a new home before, and there was a lengthy delay of 18 months, so I'm familiar with the issues which are most likely out of the developers control. Our house is incredibly well designed, solid, warm and sturdy. The local area is beautiful, and as young buyers, we are surprised to admit we might have even found our forever home. The team have always been very understanding, they have offered a lot of time and empathy towards any concerns I may have had. I am very proud owner indeed. One thing to point out is the timescale, although we were waiting five months longer than the original estimated completion date, this in my opinion is to be expected. My advice to all potential buyers, when purchasing a new build off-plan, is always expect that you'll be waiting for the house to be built and you'll be rewarded in the end with more bang for you buck and money will be saved. Finally, I'd like to point out the customer service. The responses we've received have been snappy, and someone is always on the other end of the phone (no automated call managers here). The service has felt intimate, and everyone is friendly and I can tell there is a deep level of genuine care. All in all, Sky-House has been a great choice.

Buying our Sky-House in Waverley was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We moved in 2019 and still love it 3 years later. Our home is lovely and bright, we love the size of the windows and the small details that set them about from everyday new builds.

I moved into a sky-house terrace, advertised as a sustainable and low running-cost house finished over 3 months later than originally planned in April 2022 This was supposed to be my final house move, into a development where the advertised ethos matched my own as far as sustainability and green credentials stood. I’ve now been in for ten months and what a total disappointment. The Solar panels, promising reduced power bills, are the lowest and cheapest that the providers do, they told me so themselves. They are not, and can not, be registered and so any unused power (if there is any) goes straight to the grid for nothing and we can’t get paid for it; there’s no sunlight on them in the afternoon due to overhanging trees. Once in I was told they’d probably generate enough to keep my background standby devices running, and maybe a washing machine or dishwasher once in the morning in the summer. Heating is electric radiators only, sort of controlled by an incredibly badly documented app - they appear to have a life of their own, then costing an astronomical amount to run. (£87 a week for single person occupancy in a “well insulated” brand-new mid terrace property). I’ve had to put draught proofing tape, a roll at the bottom and curtains in front of front door to fix the howling gale that comes through, also at French doors to the rear. I was told that this only happens when the wind’s in the wrong direction so isn’t a fault. The promised super double glazing isn’t “super”. The Kers heat pump system for “incredibly low cost” hot water apparently needs a temperature of 18 to function correctly. I can’t afford to keep my house that warm! Customer Service is dire and after the appointment of a new customer service manager it’s gone even further downhill and is now appalling. My garden had standing water for months and when it began to rain was under water. I sent videos of water rushing down the wrongly angled back pathway under my back gate, and stills of the lawn under centimetres of water but nothing happened until my male next door neighbour complained. They then repaired an open drainage pipe and put extra drains into HIS garden. They didn’t do mine. After a further complaint they put drains in mine, wrongly angled path remains, lawn ruined by waterlogging. Only one of the 7 Solar lights along the back pathway works, I’ve reported it, nothing has ever happened. The car park is too small and it can incredibly difficult to manoeuvre into space, yet silver birch planted behind which could’ve been tarmac and used as car parking. Advertised well-lit car park non existent The drive is too steep. Brochure stated each house was provided with a digital aerial. I was told I just needed to plug in the TV in the sitting room and three bedrooms ( although the bedroom ones located where the wardrobes go ). There’s no aerial and no wiring. If I plug in the aerial socket nothing happens. Inside aerial doesn’t work either. They say it wasn’t promised. It’s in the brochure with one or two other things that never appeared like the stainless steel low energy hob. Replaced by a 13a induction hob which doesn’t recognise small pans, and only allows one ring at full power and one at a level of 3 ( out of 9). Loos block up & a nasty brown sludge remains for a few days after. This sludge was present when I moved in. I’ve was told to clean my toilet with bleach and drain cleaner. Upper floors light circuit blew after Xmas. Sparks has been, needs a mate in order to fix. Now scheduled for 20 Feb so am using a spur from the light switch in the airing cupboard to a trailing 4 gang socket on my landing to power the upstairs lights. Other residents have had leaking roofs and a multitude of other problems These are the major issues; I could go on but why bore you any longer, this gives you the flavour of this award winning (how?) building company

A company that has a glossy exterior with little substance behind the scenes. We reserved our plot in 2021. Sky house have repeatedly told us we ‘reserved very early’ as justification for numerous delays we have experienced. We were also told we should be thankful we reserved when we did, as the asking prices have since increased. We didn’t reserve early, we reserved when the plots became available, at the price they were available. Updates are very rarely shared. Since reserving, we have received very few photographs of the interior of the property and zero phone calls. We have been within several days of completion, to be told there is almost a one month delay over email. Our house has been almost two years in the making, and we are still without a confirmed move in date. Our personal items are in storage, we are living with family and there is little to suggest sky house are a compassionate organisation. They regularly use the excuse they are not a ‘national house builder’, which seems bizarre given they will have a smaller customer base, and therefore you would imagine are able to dedicate more time to each customer. Very disappointing. I hope this will change in the near future.

What a joke of a company! The house is 9 months late and they currently cannot give me a completion date. I have been forced to move into temporary rented accommodation which I initially thought would only be for a month or so but is starting to feel like I'll be here forever! I would not recommend this builder to anyone they have really messed with mine and my partners mental health.

Reserved a house in Spring 2021 originally told completion date August 2022 currently no sign of the house being anywhere near finished, my mortgage offer has expired and now the developer is saying they won’t give me my deposit back. Avoid these cowboys!!!

Really disappointing experience with Sky House. I know new builds can be delayed but the completion date has been pushed backed 7 months. We’ve only got these details through repeated contact. The company have not been transparent or provided timely updates. When we’ve complained they have no empathy and don’t provide detail nor reasoning. We feel like we will never move into our promised new home. Edit: We actually pulled out of purchasing with Skyhouse. The developer we have gone with could not have been more different. The house is ready on time and the customer service is excellent. The Skyhouse is still not ready, around 8 months later! We aren't the only ones either, this isn't an isolated incident. I would definitely avoid.
