If you need support, then you can go direct for a month or two but still you will need to get referred by an organisation that knows you well or else has gone through your situation and found there is no alternative, like claiming benefits you're missing out on. The referral could come from a church, mosque, EYST, Citizens Advice, Unity in Diversity, Iberian and Latin-American Association, African Community Centre etc.
