    went in for a tetanus shot. when i went in there was only 1 other person. waited for over 2 hours, other people coming in and out - counted 20 overall. asked when i would be seen within the first hour, told i’d be next in and i wasn’t and waiting another hour to then be told i won’t be needing a tetanus. ridiculous.

    I went for guided help towards getting medication for my mental health as I struggle to leave my house, wake up in the mornings and I am currently in the process to moving to adult services from Cahms. The desk staff and one woman I seen were so lovely to me and made me feel secure for seeking help to get a gp appointment. When I went into see the main doctor he spoke to me harshly and I felt through out the chat like I was being scolded for coming into the clinic. They told me they were going to call Cahms and also my gp to arrange something. Later that day my Cahms worker came to my flat to see me with some documents for pip. She explained to me she had a very strange and harsh call from the walk in with that I told her I had went to seek help for a gp appointment or help to push towards medication that had been advised multiple times to do. Apparently they yelled at her and scolded me to her about me coming into clinic for my mental health and that something like this shouldn’t be done. I already struggle with the worry of doing things wrong and this situation terrified me to even go back there. Safe to say if you struggle with extreme mental health never visit this place. The only good experience i really had was with the desk woman as she was very thoughtful of my situation and courage to come into a clinic.

    As a fellow WIC/UTC nurse, I would love it if the people complaining and scoring one star could actually spend a few hours ‘behind the scenes’ to see what happens in a walk in centre. On average, it can take 20 mins to see, treat and discharge a patient with a simple ailment. That includes a consultation, medical history, physical examination and prescription if required. After that, notes need to be written and patients discharged from the medical IT system. Following this, the room needs to be cleaned, hands washed and prepped for the next patient. Those complaining about the music…Music plays in the background in order to ensure confidentiality in the treatment rooms as the walls are very thin. The service may be open until 8pm but if there’s only 2 members of staff seeing patients and there are 6 in the waiting room at 6.30pm, that means the staff may need to triage away/stream to other healthcare providers so that everyone is seen safely. If you see/hear the staff talking to each other then that could be because they have queries about a patient, or they may be discussing some stock that needs to be filled. They may also just be checking on each others mental health as the job can be very isolating and sometimes upsetting. I speak from experience when I say that sometimes the staff may not even get a chance to have a drink of water or use the toilet without someone thinking they can make a comment about it. As a whole, this service is excellent. People are complaining about having to wait a few hours, but if you were waiting for a GP appt you’d be looking at 2 weeks for something acute. People are complaining about having to go to A&E. This is a minor illness/injuries unit. It does not have the ability to take bloods required for cardiac or abdominal assessments. It doesn’t have machines available to scan. I attended yesterday and was treated by two lovely members of staff. They were thorough, polite and listened to all of my issues. The Practitioner I saw for my consultation even took time to give me advice and signpost me about something totally unrelated to why I’d attended. Thank you Skem. You’re doing great.

    Went at 18:30hrs to be told they weren't seeing anyone else and to go somewhere else even though they are open till 20:00hrs, only 6 people in at the time, woman on reception was very rude and abrupt.

    Apparently open until 8! Told at 7:45 with a 4 year old with impetigo to go buy the cream (antibiotic cream you can't!) call 111 I did. I was told treat it at home ( you can't you need antibiotic cream) come back at 8am because I've got two patients notes to write up (not my problem) sent away with an itching face absolutely shocking patient care for a child and pure laziness and I'm a nurse I'm beyond appalled

    Away in Southport when baby became unwell. Visited the walk in clinic at Skelmersdale. Fantastic service. Baby was assessed within minutes of being there and the wait for a doctor was only about an hour. All members of staff that we came into contact with were lovely - receptionist, health care assistant and the doctor. The doctor was excellent with my baby and very thorough. Thank you to all concerned

    Staff are rude, abrupt and arrogant. They intentionally drag out the times between seeing patients. Staff will chat amongst themselves inbetween seeing people. If you are waiting, you can actually time to the minute when someone will be called in. 8 hour waits are not uncommon and people being called in roughly at 90minute intervals ensures a light workload. Staff happy to ignore symptoms and tend to take 1 of 2 approaches. 1. You are not that ill. 2. Should have seen your DR. They know DR apps are rarer than unicorns but they don't care. Shameful service and they need investigating.

    Can't complain. Refused treatment at Leigh because I presented with a cough but knew it was an asthma flare up so potentially serious. Long wait but fine by me because it meant I was seen. Saw a lovely GP who prescribed exactly what I asked for Prendisalone tablets. Ok I end up anyway at Wigan A+E 3 days later but these tablets helped me not having to go in the back of an ambulance. Thank you Skem you literally saved my life. Shame on Leigh walk-in
