Booked a table online for 30th September 7pm over a month ago, got confirmation and reminders etc. When my friends and I arrived at 7pm in rain and blustering winds..the restaurant was closed! We waited and we knocked - no response. There was no notice on the doors of the closure, There was no communication from the restaurant at all!! Emergencies happen, but extremely disappointed that they had no decency to let me know. They had all my necessary details from my online booking! Don't think I'll bother with them anymore. Instead we went to Cafe Rouge in the Marina where we had a great meal and service!!

When I first walked in, the place was empty and I started to think oh no, what have I booked.. the staff were extremely friendly, although there is only Jess currently working at the moment, I feel she did an excellent job (the only advice I’d give Jess is not to ask people if they want the bill, that’s usually the customers job!) the owner takes the time to come out and check that everything is ok and if we have enjoyed our food. The food was so flavoursome, although the next day can leave you feeling extremely thirsty. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would definitely visit again.

The service at this place needs a complete overhaul. We had a party of 20 and had pre-ordered food and paid a deposit but this didn’t make any difference. Staff looked extremely young and inexperienced wandering back and forth at random with no one coordinating what was served or when. 2.5 hours for mains to arrive and even then they were incomplete. For some reason, the chef decided to come to the table and lean over asking what we thought of the food, then was indignant and insulting when we said it was extremely delayed and overly salted. No customer service training at all! Avoid at all costs.

Admittedly I'm part of a large party but as all of us have ordered in advance I would expect to have some food by now. I have to say that the staff serving look inexperienced. The food might be good but I can't tell, I have none!!! We now have main courses arriving before the starters are complete. Organisation skills need improvement. So apparently the pre order was not received, works out they didnt look at the email, hence the delays. My starter was almost almost last to arrive after twice asking what was occurring. It would seem that it was missed from the list. Two others were even later. My conclusion is don't bother if your party is larger than six or if you are visiting at a busy time. Can't believe that there are main dishes on the table but the knives-fork-serviettes are being put on the table after. Organisation, none apparent. Main courses have arrived, pretty much on time. I had veggie burger things, my partner had veggie skewers. Both dishes served with chips. So much salt. The dish just tastes of salt. I've made a senior member of staff aware. No one else in the restaurant has a problem tonight (eh?) Maybe we are all too English (Bob [name changed to protect anonymity] I'm looking at you, when your medium rare steak comes out well done, then tell them, dont just moan internally in the group). My advice, if you have a 50/50 choice between here and somewhere else of where to eat in Brighton, don't come here.

Owner of the restaurant is utterly rude, he insulted me and my family for no reason and had a very unprofessional manner. Food was not up to a high standard and served late and cold. Would not recommend!

Six weeks ago had a lovely meal, good service and food. Last night was a complete nightmare! 45-minutes before our order taken. Waitress first night and could not answer our questions about the food. Over an hour to get our drinks and they were wrong. Nearly 90-minutes before starters and one missing. Main courses came and some were wrong and the same person who they forgot the starter for only got half her main course. Food quality was nothing compared to my previous visit and all of us left about half. Chips were rock solid. We complained and the chef (and owner?), obviously agitated and having a bad night offered us 20% off the bill. We said it was not good enough. He then said all his staff were on their first day as all his other staff.... And did not finish the sentence. He was holding the food for a table that left after waiting over an hour for it and gave up. He chucked it down on our table and said "pay whatever you want, I have lost so much money tonight." And then stormed off. We paid £15 each which was more than generous and left. As I said before, six weeks ago a nice meal. If the staffing issues are sorted out you might have a nice night. We saw at least 3 other tables complain and walk out. Avoid for a few weeks at least whilst staff are trained and then the roll dice if you are feeling lucky!
