I decided to go with Sixt for their out of hours return policy the offered - which was very easy to use. I rented a van with them for 2 days as I was relocating down south. The man on the desk was lovely and so helpful, however there was no one available to check the van with me when the keys were handed over. I received the van check which gets sent to you from the company's with the details of existing damages, over a day late so I had no time to compare with the existing state of the van. I returned the van out of hours, we checked the van before giving it back and everything was perfectly fine, however there was no member of staff to confirm this with us. I thought that was the end of it, and if it was then I would have given Sixt 5 stars - however around a week later I received an email saying we had caused damage to the van. I was gutted, and couldn't understand why Sixt were doing this. I panicked because we had so much expense with moving that I couldn't afford this pay out. They came back and said we caused a dent on the van, 3mm - and it was next to impossible to see on the images. I couldn't believe the treatment from Sixt, luckily I took out all the extras on the van hire and the damage only cost me £150. However this is still a lot of money and still very unacceptable from a company this size. They have taken this from my card as per the terms and conditions of their contract. I would be extremely careful when using this company and I would suggest taking photos of every inch of the vehicle with a member of their staff. I had no idea they was going to do this otherwise I would have done the same, but it was such a stressful move that it wasn't even on my mind. Please learn from my mistake if you ever use this company I’ll never be using this company again. And I am appalled by there sly service, and lack of consideration for their paying customers. And I cant believe a company of their size operates in this way. They made my already stressful move even more stressful than it needed to be.
