Utter shambles start to finish. I have written to Six offering them a right to reply and explain how things went so horribly wrong, no response after a week so I am sharing the experience for others. Having been met at the gate by a friendly guard he radioed ahead to announce our arrival. When we arrived at the restaurant we were shown to our table that wasn't yet set. As we sat down the table was made around us, cutlery, plates, napkins. Wasn't sure if this was a 'thing' or not, but having a look around there were other tables already set before guests were seated. Not a good start. I made some enquiries to the largely disinterested waitress as to the menu, ie what comes with the beef, do I need sides and what are the sides etc. She didn't know as 'they keep changing things'. Ordered some wine after about 10 minutes the 'wine waiter' ultimately arrived to inform us they had 'run out' and offered an alternative. It wan't chilled so I asked for it to be put on ice, which was the worlds biggest challenge. Not sure what the usual practice is with wine and keeping guests' glasses charged, but I am fairly certain it shouldn't be the responsibility of the guest to keep asking for a refill. Starters were good and delivered well by another waiter. Mains arrived and were delivered by another waitress who attempted to describe the dish, obviously felt stupid doing so and ended up mumbling through as she walked away from the table. I had beef and it was just warm enough to eat, nicely cooked, but warm. By this time I has voiced some concerns to a member of staff and Aimee came over. Aimee was apologetic about the table not being set, she told us she has been brought in from Alchemilla to sort out the staff/service related issues, I nearly fell of my chair. We latterly had a visit from Kieran, who was understanding but not overly apologetic, but he kindly offered to not charge for the wine or desert course. We had cheese and biscuits, seriously 3 small slivers of cheese for £12, total rip off, go to LaRock and see their cheese board! Came to pay and the bill had the service charge still listed. I asked the girl who arrived with he bill to remove it please as we have had terrible service. She stumbled for a moment and then pointed to my phone and asked me to open the calculator and 'work it out' for me. Unbelievable. I asked her to fetch Aimee who came over with Kieran. Ran through again the list of issue and the calculator incident. They weren't interested, and were frankly rude. I have never had an experience like it, irrespective of the 'fine dining' experience they purport, I have never in any restaurant received such poor service and attitude from the staff. Not to have had a response to the email I sent just highlights the total lack of customer service. In addition to our issues: 1. Very limited wine list, even before the stock-out situation 2. Limited range of cocktails on offer 3. No indication of vegetarian options on the menu 4. The room was far too hot 5. No soya milk One to avoid I am sorry to say.

Six is a lovely location with a panoramic view of Trent Bridge one side and the city on the other. Decor is stylish and it all bodes for a great experience. Food was very good indeed, clearly aiming for a michelin star. However, there are things to pick on, and when you're paying well over £100 a head, you have to pick. The food, while delicious, could have been warmer. The service was an issue, clearly inexperienced staff, while keen, left us without cutlery when food was delivered repeatedly, didn't know anything about the food they served and knew even less about the wine. Its an experience to visit but there are a number of better options at that high price point around the city. I wouldn't go back.

Sorry to report that Six is struggling to deliver. Still a fabulous location and beautifully presented. Much of the food is good, but not all. Terrine starter and duck were lovely. Risotto was overcooked and desserts were poor. Tart tatin was a joke size and no apple flavour as there was hardly any apple in it. Service was well intentioned, pleasant staff as people, but with little training and no pizzazz to provide value for the high prices now charged. It would have supported the kitchen better if dishes were described as they're brought out. Otherwise identifying the garnish and presentation became a game of guesswork. Forks and spoons to accompany the desserts would have helped, and an attention to bringing drinks rather than needing to be asked. Final straw was being unable to offer us our coats as we left. The staff were just unprepared for their job and Six needs to address this for me to come back. Pre Covid the staff were great, the drinks perfect and the food almost spot on. Twice in the last year we've been disappointed, and at this price that's a red flag.

Enjoyed for a special occasion as you get your table for the whole evening. Food is small in portion for the price. We got a waiter in training which was an experience.
