We finally managed to have a tour and tasting today, after Covid had cancelled it twice before. We had an informative tour around the vineyard, and then a tour around the winery, in a relaxed manner, with plenty of laughter. Then we had a proper tasting in the bar upstairs, and a few good goes down the adult slide! We’ll with the price and time. Sylvia could not have been better, and was a great tour guide and supplier of fine wines, still and sparkling for tasting. And the best bit, it was adults only, no children - keep it that way!!

Over the past few days we have visited three wineries in England (Gusbourne, Chapel Down and Simpsons), tasting some wonderful wines. Everywhere we received a warm welcome expect at Simpsons. From the moment we walked in, we were treated as if they didn't want us there, which is why we decided to leave without going through with the scheduled tasting. We arrived with a 3 year old son, just as we did in the other wineries, where he was welcomed, given a non-alcoholic drink, and enjoyed the experience with us. At Simpsons, the lady at the reception turned us away, noting their terms and conditions didn't allow it. T&Cs do stipulate only 18+ can take part in tasting. We didn't expect him to drink! It was not as much the rules that motivated me to leave this comment, but the way we were treated, as if we broke some rules and that they'd prefer we went away --- so we did! Sorry to say, Simpsons might make a great wine, but it is definitely not customer or family friendly. Plenty of choices of wine out there meant we all looked at each other, and said, never we want to buy a wine from Simpsons.
