Update (2 years in) Consistently 5* service and always customer first. It remains my go-to gun shop for about two years now, despite travelling all over the country with my work. I always end up buying slightly more than I expected to (great prices) but never more than I need (great advice). These guys are at the top of their game - in a very understated way. Superb. Original Post: I live 150 miles away but since discovering Simpsons a year ago I now treat this as my local gun shop and buy everything from them. That should tell you all you need to know. Honest, patient, and knowledgeable staff who will happily listen and discuss all manner of questions in a clear and consistent way. Particular mention to Holly and Marcus for their excellent unhurried approach. They only stock quality goods, and there are options for most budgets, and it’s all priced competitively. It’s genuinely the best customer service I have had in a very long time.

In response... I appreciate I was not aware of the RFD transfer process and the dealer I purchased from was not overly clear in explaining it, but they offered to waive most of their cost so I believe they are acting fairly for this transaction. I checked with a number of other dealers and the average cost for accepting a transfer was £25, so I stand by my initial opinion that £50 seems unfair to me. I'm not sure why the size of the business should dictate the review level, however, you have taken the time to reply and it shows a level of service so I will modify the review to 3* but I do think you should review your charges and be more accepting of welcoming new gun enthusiasts into your shop who may well have many thousands of pounds to spend locally in the future. I purchased an air rifle online from another shop and the standard arrangement seems to be a special RFD collection service which I paid for on my order. The rifle was to be sent to a local gun store, in my case Simpson Bros for collection. When I called Simpson I was told they would charge £50 to hand the gun over. Even the dealer I brought it from said this was very high as the work involved is relatively straight forward, in fact as part of the purchase cost most of it was already done. The result of all this, I had to cancel the order as I cannot justify 30% of the gun value in admin costs. Very disappointing. I understand some admin fee is usually charged but this seems wholly unjustified.

This place was recommended by a colleague of mine. When I rang them a gentleman called Marcus answered he was professional and helpful. We decided to visit them on the same day once we arrived at the shop, all the staff members were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. We decided to purchase every thing that we wanted as the whole experience was pleasant. I will continue to use the shop for my future purchases and I would recommend them without hesitation to my fellow shooters .
