I recently attended the two-weekend bricklaying course, and it exceeded my expectations. Bob, our tutor has great experience and clearly knows how to teach. I learnt loads of skills, some I did not know I needed (!) and came out with not only the basic techniques required but also the confidence to begin doing my own blockwork. What I also appreciated was the course structure; we spent the first weekend on doing the basics and Bob asked us to bring in plans of any projects we were planning. For the second weekend he then tailored the course individually to our needs based on our projects - superb.

Just completed the 5 day foundation course in Plastering with Neil and Colin. A very enjoyable week in a great set up. The course was perfect for getting a complete novice to a place where I can confidently plaster walls and ceilings to a good standard. Neil was a great tutor and gave clear guidance and support where needed. Would definitely recommend Silver Trowel.

Many thanks to Colin and the team for an excellent 4 day (2 weekends) plastering course. Those of us on the course were complete novices with students in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Instructions and demonstrations were clear and consistent, with lots of opportunity to practice the art whilst being guided on how best to develop your skills. My only advice - take a flask of tea/coffee.

I spent 1 week learning the basics. My instructor was excellent and provided a perfect balance of guidance and supervision. I went from total novice to being able to confidently plaster walls and ceilings. Excellent value for money and thoroughly enjoyable too!

I have just completed the 6-week 'British Gypsum Site Ready Skimming Course' after having completed the initial '10-day Professional Plastering Training Course'. The staff were professional throughout and knowledgeable about all aspects of Plastering and beyond. The training was comprehensive but not prescribed. This allowed each student to learn at their own pace and the freedom to experiment through the duration of the course. Staff were always on hand to answer questions whilst giving us the independence to find our own path. However, they also kept a watching eye to ensure we made sustained progress. Skimming techniques used are up to date. Staff explain the reason for these techniques to give us comprehensive knowledge of the industry. We also learned about dry-lining, rendering, using different plastering products and bonding. Having started as a novice, I feel confident going into the industry that I can perform to a consistently high standard. British Gypsum supported us through the course and showed a commitment to our development. Entering this profession requires dedication, but offers a long-term, rewarding career.
