We visit all year round . In Spring time there is an abundance of flowers and blossoms. The mansion opens Wednesday to Sunday Two cafes one by the farm buildings and the other by the mansion . Toilets by the cafés Great second hand bookshop and national trust gift shop. As you wander you might see longhorn cattle and sheep It's worth the walk up to Hadrian's arch for the views and the herd of deer who are usually close by . Lots of seats scattered around and lovely lawns for picnics. Enjoy the beautiful grounds especially the arboretum full of trees from around the world. There are usually a few activities for children dotted around especially during school holidays.

This National Trust park is a good place to visit even with small children, although it is quite a walk from the car park to the house it is a nice stroll with games to play on the way for children and adults to, and the walk is mostly flat if someone is in a wheelchair there is also a shuttle service to the house.
