If you're looking for a coastal area that seems timeless and windswept then visit Shellness. During our 2 hours here we saw 2 people. The beaches are abundant with shell varieties, tucked away hut communities and private residential enclaves. Roads towards nature reserve ( potholed, fine if you have the right vehicle) are best walked. Swalesdale D.C. signs; more frequent than people (overkill on Naturist beach area !) as well as aged and attractive brakers on beaches.. We explored the salt marshes; with sea lavender, Little Terns (protected) and world war two buildings (on horizon and pillbox via dyke). Weather changes are beautifully dramatic with coastal views (Whitstable?). A calming, peaceful location.

Spent the majority of the day up Shellness beach and it was perfect. Part sand and shell. Extremely quiet and free parking nearby. Me and the family had a perfect day spent at the beach. Just be warned there is a nudist beach near by as we discovered, which did cause a few giggles.
