Visited for 1st time today, sat out in the sun. We were greeted by a friendly young man. We chose to have cake and were asked if it was with ice cream or Wensleydale cheese. Cheese was an odd combo so we both opted for ice-cream. Little did we.know that there was an additional charge for ice cream. It didn't state that on the menu beside the cakes we chose and the server didn't say either on taking the order. It was all lovely but this cafe lost 1 star because of the unexpected additional charge.

Unlucky days! If I could rate a zero I would! We popped in here as it promises gluten free options and I am coeliac. Having spoken at length to waiters about gluten free options and the importance of cross contamination i put my trust and my health in thier hands. We waited ages for food and when it arrived I noticed pasta in my coleslaw which I found odd. I asked a waiter to check this was GF pasta and started to get a little worried about the cross contamination as I had already eaten one half of my sandwich. I was reassured that the pasta was gluten free but I did not trust the waiter understood , I even seen him shrug his shoulders when walking away so I asked to speak to someone else. Turns out my whole meal was not gluten free at all, and there was no safety measures in place around cross contaminating. The chef did not come down to speak to me at any point, the waiters were very apologetic but blamed "miscommunication" (my condition was explained in clear and plain English). I was offered another meal, made gluten free of course, biggest laugh of all....no thanks. The place is quite dirty too and food sitting in the window uncovered, we should have known. I had to comment, having seen that the manager has responded claiming to cater for everyone including gluten free...no you don't!?!? Educate yourself and your staff around food allergies, luckily for me it is not life threatening but for someone with a peanut allergy for example..that could have caused serious serious health problems or even death. Moral of the story.....avoid this place if you have any allergies, these people are clueless and actuality quite dangerous to public health. I would also recommend a quick Google search of the food hygiene rating for this place, that will help you decide if you want to eat here Dietary restrictions: Avoid if you have allergies. They either do not understand them, or they do not care enough about your health. Also, a quick Google search for the food hygiene rating will help you make up your mind

I informed the waitress that I had a nut allergy and they assured me that there were no nuts in the meal. After two bites my lips started to swell and my throat started to close up so I had to rush to the nearest hospital. If you have an allergy, I would highly recommend that you AVOID this place at all costs.

We only had a tea and coffee which I'm really pleased about. My teaspoon had something green stuck to it and my milk had black things floating in it, I used the facilities and the floor was soiled, pretty grim. The staff seemed really nice but the cleanliness of the place was shocking.
