Really felt like I got ripped off here. Phoned up quite a few places and was quoted half of what I paid to get 6 letters embroidered on a shirt. I do have to take some responsibility for not asking the price beforehand. I stupidly figured a small local company would have been well priced or even competitive. In the same order, I dropped off some trousers to get a small hole repaired and they too stung me more than what I thought to pay. Was told the two items would take a week due to them being busy which I didn’t mind however when I went to collect, they hadn’t even done my trousers and the lady did them on the spot which took all of 30 seconds. Would have to take out a second mortgage if I were to visit again which I don’t plan on doing.

I took my daughter's Prom Dress to Rosemary as it was bought off the rack and needed alterations. My daughter has quite a large bust and was very concious of the way the dress fitted. Instead of just pulling the straps up as we had been advised of doing at a previous tailors, Rosemary took the time to listen and added to the dress in such a way that not only was my daughter thrilled with the result, it looked as though it was part of the original dress. The smile on my daughter's face and the confidence she had when leaving for her prom that evening was priceless. I cannot praise Rosemary enough. To get this result we had to visit Rosemary a couple of times to make sure that it was perfect for her. On one of these appointments Rosemary was running late, this was not an issue for us. However Rosemary was so concerned that she had kept us waiting that she gave my daughter some nail polish to match her dress and gave me a scented candle. Over and above...cannot speak highly enough. Rose is absolutely wonderful. She's altered a number of my clothes and even fixed another tailor's shabby work! Each time I've brought a garment to Rose, she always exceeded my expectations and I've loved the end result. I've now moved away from Chelmsford, but I will still save all my tailoring for Rose! Honestly, don't go to any tailor/seamstress other than Rose, it's not worth it!

Visited Rose for my wedding dress alteration as my dress was too long in length. The appointment was made days prior to the tiers in November 2020 being introduced; all safety precautions were in place, which was nice to see. The appointment went well i felt very relaxed, and wasnt rushed at all, with a very personal touch. Price wise i didnt know what to expect, its a wedding dress with layers! You are paying for a skilled person to look after and alter your wedding dress, just keep that in mind. I have my final fitting in January 2021, cant wait to see my dress. I took a very old (early 1900s?) green velvet dinner jacket (complete with trousers) to Rose for some dramatic alterations. It was originally from Savile Row so I wanted to give it to someone I could trust – based on the reviews I brought it here. Rose gave great advice on how best to alter it so it still retained its character and was transparent about pricing.
