Lovely facilities for toddlers and children. I was a visitor to the area and looking for something to do on my own with my child to pass 20mins. Popped to the children's section for ten mins and then aimed to visit the gallery. One member of staff quietly put books away whilst me and my daughter read books. My little one was (of course!) taken by the computer, so she sat in the chair and tapped at the keys. I taught her what the mouse did because she'd never seen one before and she was pushing it around and looking at the light. Unfortunately, another member of staff very rudely pointed out that it wasn't to be played with and that we should stop. She certainly wasn't doing anything with the equipment that an older child wouldn't do more of, and my hand was on top of hers guiding it. I found this to be quite unkind and judgemental given that she'd not stopped to really take in our interaction. Unfortunately, on whisking my toddler away feeling slightly angered, she didn't know what was happening, got very upset and then we couldn't enjoy the gallery and museum. I thought libraries were for learning, and found this positive experience turned very negative in the end.

Needed to use the Library building for accessing Registrar Services, so not borrowing books etc, as so many think of Libraries for. Easy access, clear signage to appropriate areas & helpful as well as efficient, understanding staff members. This made what could have been an odd first visit, more bearable and hence able to achieve the needed aims.

Travelled here for an art installation by valence school, I thought the gallery was well set out. The treatment of the subject matter was well presented. Access for wheelchair was excellent.
