    I need an alarm on a new house we're moving into and after receiving a few quotes decided on a wireless system from Select Security. Paul and his colleague Mark arrived at the appointed time and talked me through the detail of their proposal and adjusted it to cater for my thoughts. The installation went without a hitch and they helped me set up the operating app on my mobile. This was followed by a demonstration of the arming/unarming of system and a promise to support me should I need it. Their attitude was professional and friendly, the installation efficient and effective and they left the house clean and tidy. This was a job very well done, so thanks. Additionally I asked Paul for advice on a non-working wired alarm in my nearby house. Without hesitation he volunteered to look at it there and then. They identified and fixed the fault, including replacing the external bell box cover. This was all done at no cost. A truly exceptional service. I have no hesitation in recommending Select Security.

    Used to be great, the work that has been done in the past has been done well and was of a high quality, mainly annual services and new pet and door sensors etc, however after covid, we hadn't contacted them for a while and they were reluctant to come out. I did convince Paul (the owner), to do so and he explained about servicing etc and how it was important for his reputation things were well serviced. He serviced the alarm and fitted new sensors and this was done well. I came to use select again this year and the prices have just risen too high, so I have changed supplier, They also said they were unable to provide servicing going forward and then quoted for a service plan which is odd, this is a poor customer experience for someone who has been with you since 2006. Your response changes nothing I've written, It was not left 4 years aside from during covid where this did indeed go too far, what happened was it was serviced before Covid-19 and we left it just over two years before, you said at the time this was too long, you came out again (after much convincing) this would have been on or around October 2021, and fitted a back door sensor as we had a new back door, this was also done well, you also at that time serviced the alarm and fitted a new alarm cover etc with your companies name on it, after this I left it 16 months meaning you came around October time and I called you end of March this year, appreciated this is over 12 months, please don't try and say this was left 4 years because that is not true, you raised your price to 50% greater than that of your nearest competitor no doubt to offload us as a client, that has repercussions and this review is that. Your work I again say was of high quality but don't misrepresent what happened, I have included a picture of the brand new cover your fitted over my alarm in late 2021. If you don't know why I leave the review you need to review your customer care skills, You should realise we never wanted to change provider, we liked having you service the alarm you just were too expensive the amount of expense was disproportionate so we left. In future perhaps offering a rolling contract would help you retain more people and we could set this up as an annual Direct Debit, you could offer this as an option rather than default for those who wish to maintain that manually and then people would probably not forget. Honestly we just left it a couple of months out (this time), we lead busy lives and can't always keep track. I was able to secure a £90 service from a competitor and I wasn't in a contract with them, this is really a significant price difference from £150. You could then just email us and say its time to book an appointment (you could automate this fairly easily), this might help avoid these situations in the future. For anyone reading this I should point out again the work carried out was always good. I have restored the star count back to three as I think that's fair upon reflection.

    Review post 10years. Really good alarm install. Very good initial CCTV install. Both V clean and tidy. Was very knowledgeable and helpful during sales and fitting. After sales is non existent and shocking - unless you pay for their service contract. I would not reccomend only because of the lack of after sales without service contract, and also the unreliable CCTV. Alarm wise if reccomend. No issues with alarm except stopped alerting by text. But this was a voda thing, it's since resolved unexpectedly even though for over 2 y it just stopped working. Major issues with CCTV, hard disk and box failed after 1 year. Was really hard getting him out but eventually he came. Replaced the box with another box. At that time he was not as pleasant and told us if we want service should have bought a contract. Complained about the fact why does it keep failing and he said I should have paid more and he did me a favour, I paid full prove for cctv. Turned out he'd used bit he had left laying around fr other jobs to do our job and most probably 6we suspect the DVR was old most probably faulty. So that's why DVR prob failed. Replaced another DVR hik vision. The cameras always been fine. found out he'd used bits and bobs later as the hd failed again within 6m but this time he never came out as apparently over 12m since initial install. No support whatsoever. Ignored completely. I then looked at my system to find it had been fitted with a standard hard disk as opposed to surveillance grade. Which explains why the hd kept failing. I replaced hd with wd surveillance one. The system worked for 1 year before the DVR keeps failing. Turned out it was the DVR again. If DVR only last 1-1.5year then must be something dodgy about the parts. If I was on a service contract it would be sorted but as was not they don't help. I had to since replace it myself with a hikvision type system dvr which I purchased online. This one capable of 1080p. If you are someone looking for a good system for long term without service contracts don't buy. If you're willing to live with paying service contract you'll probably be ok as by sounds of it if you got one they'll deal with it. In short good alarms ... Unreliable CCTV unless on contract.
