Nice clean cottage with equip also appears very clean. Stairs though very steep as advised, which would be OK If the handrail of some sort was secured, put into place all the way up ,but it's not. We had trouble with both the key entry system for inner door, very temperamental and a nuisance, same door would not shut properly. A couple of gadgets a bit too fussy and simpler, yet modern ones could do just as well. Needed light on in lounge during day as cottage is down a small narrow yard. Was a little bit noisy during the time when the Diner was open and their kitchen door was open. When we went along the passage to use the exit into Flowergate big wheelie bin blocking path. And steps along to the other exit down into street ,again not very safe. Even in these times 9am check out time far to early and check in a bit too late! Other places in at 2pm and where we stayed after out at 11am.! I had asked if I could cancel cottage after major emergency opp but was not allowed to,just had to delay visit. Not very good customer relations really sad to say. Personally I would not stay here again but others probably would like it. Yard was very hard to find as not visible from street, meaning the signage. Ingrid Flute office staff admitted that he hadn't been there himself to check things out. And No welcome pack And definitely no milk as told there would be on arrival! And where was the clothes horse hidden? Why! Upstairs in the wardrobe!!! Disappointed, sorry 😞

Lovely cottage, decorated very tastefully, very comfortable. Only one minor thing, it's half way up a steep hill. But there again, so is most of Whitby. We really enjoyed our stay. Definitely 4☆.
