I joined School of Upholstery back in 2018 when Alex was running his summer leisure classes. From the outset, Alex allowed me to jump straight into the deep end with a child's armchair. I hadn't upholstered a chair before and didn't really now how to sew on a sewing machine. Despite this, I was welcomed and immediately felt as though I should be there. There were no constraints, negativities or advice that I should start with a foot stool or a small dining chair. Alex's patience, understanding and ability to see the potential in an individual sets him apart from most as a teacher. His whole approach gave me the self confidence and belief that I was capable of going out on my own and making upholstery a new vocation for myself. 4 years on, I am about to embark on year 2 of the AMUSF course (Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers) that Alex now runs. School of Upholstery is Kent's only approved training centre by the AMUSF and offers a spacious, light and airy environment to learn in, as well as excellent support. Thanks Alex for allowing me to grow and to continue to improve to be the best that I possibly can.🙏🙏🙏

School of Upholstery in Faversham is a great space to learn and create under the wing of Alex Law (he’s written books and been on TV you know ). I have just finished year 1 of the professional AMUSF course and am signed up ready for Year 2. Returning to a classroom at 50 having just realised that I had been struggling with ADHD was hard. I struggled with anxiety, confidence, concentration and more. Alex was amazing. He shared his funky workshop, his wealth of knowledge, his passion and his collection of tools , each with its own unique story. He is kind , caring, positive and patient. I felt valued and supported by everyone in the class and when you struggle to believe in yourself and your ability, this is so important. I’m usually rubbish and getting round to writing reviews but I couldn’t have completed the course without Alex and I would recommend his school wether it’s a fun weekend or one evening a week. Year two here I come
