Sarah has been such an amazing support to my partner and I leading up to the birth and then for the birth itself. The antenatal sessions were thorough but relaxed and run at a pace that worked for us - giving us the confidence we needed. The birth itself lasted a long time but Sarah was there throughout and helped to keep me reassured, calm and supported. I cannot recommend Sarah enough!

I'm finding it difficult to put into words just how grateful I am for Sarah's support towards the end of my pregnancy and at the birth. As a first-time mum, very anxious about labour and wary of medical settings, having Sarah's support made the world of difference. I had started to get upset about the lack of continuity of care experienced antenatally and felt I wanted someone who could be there, just for me and my husband, in what would be a defining moment in our lives. In the weeks leading up to the birth Sarah became a supportive friend, an objective advisor, and a person to vent and worry to. Sarah helped me to prepare for the best, instead of fretting over the worst - whilst always being empathetic to how I felt. From coaching us through preparing birth preferences that helped me feel in control, and giving me the confidence to trust my body and stay home as long as possible, right through to providing counter pressure through my contractions, talking me out of my own self-doubt and even helping me shower and get comfortable immediately after labour, Sarah was an extra pair of hands, an reassuring word and a warm hug when my husband and I most needed it most. Her support allowed my husband to totally focus on my emotional support, and later providing skin to skin with our son, while she tended to some of our more practical needs. She also captured some incredible photos and video clips that we'll treasure forever. If you're considering Doula support - go for it and you'll be making a wonderful choice with Sarah.

Sarah was with us during our pregnancy and birth and she gave us the knowledge and confidence that we actually did end up needing. The birth deviated from our ideal set of circumstances and my wife needed to make big decisions in a short amount of time. With the knowledge we learnt, and with Sarah by our sides we didn't feel pressured or bullied into anything, our decisions felt like our own and felt informed. Thank you so much Sarah! - Jeff P

Hiring Sarah was one of the best decisions we made for our son’s birth. Before the birth she provided support navigating the medical system and helped us clarify the many decisions we needed to make. She filled the gaps in our knowledge when needed and was a consistent and reassuring presence throughout, giving us confidence about what was right for us. At the birth, she knew what I needed and took the stress out of dealing with the hospital as she knew the questions to ask. Sarah is a safe pair of hands who will adapt to help you have the most positive experience possible. I would recommend her to anyone considering a doula ten times over. She is also funny, kind and very approachable. She will always have a special place in our memories of our son’s amazing birth.

For those who are wondering weather to hire a doula is a good idea or not, let me explain my experience and thinking process. The NHS is a fantastic organisation that provides an unbelievably high value service to everyone in the UK. Seriously, when you compare the NHS in the UK with other countries like the US it is mind-blowing the high quality service we all get at “no cost”. In the specific case of the section of the NHS taking care of birth in the Bournemouth and Pool area, midwifes, consultants, etc, I think these group of professionals deserve the highest recognition. Professional, caring, attentive, knowledgeable, effective. I could go on and on about the attributes that describe them. The NHS however, is a big organisation, and as in all organisations, in order to make such a big structure work properly, they need to have certain rules, politics, processes, systems, recommendations, protocols. You, on the other hand, are very likely to have your first baby with your partner (not necessarily your first, but you know what I mean). For you this is a big and important moment. It is the most common and repeated event the history of human kind, yet, you most likely know nothing about it. It would be normal that you would take certain measures in order to learn about it, study, get to know what to expect, etc, but most importantly, you need to learn to be with your partner, support each other and enjoy the ride that you are about to encounter. Believe me, you both can enjoy it, and that should probably be one of the main focuses in your journey. However, you’ll need to start paying attention to all those processes, systems, protocols, options, decisions that you need to deal with when interacting with a big organisation like the NHS. It could be the case that you find yourself in an overwhelming situation, where you not only have to deal with your family situation at home but also need to make an effort to understand the system which is going to be taking care of you and your family. This can be quite an effort, and it could hinder your ability to enjoy the journey. Here is when a Doula comes in very handy. A doula is someone who will be with you, helping all the way through pregnancy until your baby arrives to this world. Someone with the knowledge about the systems, protocols, processes, and someone who’s been in many different birthing situations, and knows what is normal and what is out of the ordinary. We were lucky enough to find Sarah, our doula. Sarah not only helped us understanding and navigating the process but she was also a key element in our successful story through pregnancy, labour and final birth of our lovely baby boy. Having Sarah with us gave us many benefits, but the one I really appreciated the most was that in the important moments, I could focus and pay all my attention to my partner because I knew Sara was there. If I needed to deal with anything other than my partner, Sarah would do it faster and better than me. Sarah is the sailor you would want when sailing through the Atlantic. Sarah is the guide you would want when climbing the Everest. Sarah, your doula, can be that reference you check in order to know that you are doing OK. Sarah, your doula, can be the bridge that joins your world and the unknown system that is opening in front of you, empty of prejudice and full of care, knowledge and love. Forever grateful.

We completed our hypnobirthing course with Sarah a couple of weeks ago and have come away feeling confident and positive about birth as a whole, our choices and preferences and also how to use the techniques learnt in all aspects of birth whichever way it goes. The course was well put together, and sarah is very friendly, funny and easy to approach, even outside of course sessions. The best part for me was the inclusion of the birth partners. My husband has totally bought into hypnobirthing and he has been using the techniques already to support me when I’ve had a wobble and to Practice before the big day. The confidence and excitement he has about the birth already is incredible. A must for birth partners! We now have a WhatsApp with the group so we can keep In touch and up to date with any special arrivals. Thanks Sarah 😁

My husband and I found Sarah's course really helpful and we definitely felt better prepared once we'd completed it. We both learned a lot and it really helped us to feel ready as a team. Sarah has also been an ongoing source of support and information beyond just the sessions we had with her.

Sarah was an amazing support during the birth of my 3rd child, I was really keen to have a natural home birth and Sarah's guidance with hypnobirthing and advocacy for my birth plan made it possible. Sarah has a passion supporting parents and it shows through every level of her work. I had my empowering home birth with Sarah's support everything was taken care of so I got to focus on my gorgeous little baby. I still use the breathing techniques!
