I had the steak and kidney pudding, my mate had the fish and chips and my other mate had the chicken Kiev, all were supposedly home made but I am sorry to say the food was underwhelming! We were really hungry and pretty disappointed. We ended up just having a laugh about how bad the food was lol

What a disappointing meal! I will never go there again. Over priced and over rated! A complete rip-off. 2 people had the burger and FROZEN chips. Burger King is a much better choice. I person had steak and kidney pudding ( one of their famous dishes ) it was swimming in gravy, very few peas, and FROZEN Chips. The pudding is much smaller than it used to be. 2 people had the steak sandwich special, very disappointing again, and FROZEN chips. With drinks, it came to £190 for 5 people . No wonder this restaurant changes its owners and staff so often. This restaurant was always known as the Jewel in Manchester's crown. Good old fashioned, homemade cooking....not any more!

Went for the Sunday Roast which was nice but nothing particularly special. Was seated in the corner and found the venue quite dim, dusty and musty. Perhaps sitting away from the old curtains and closer to the lighting would change my view.

First time here and was extremely impressed. Steak was cooked perfectly and the red wine gravy was to die for. Lovely atmosphere, good ambient music and friendly staff.

We arrived at a 7:15 booking and were told that the two main meals that most would go for on the menu were not available. The starters we had were lovely but we both ordered the corned beef hash which you would think would be a blend of beef and potatoes... what we got wash basically a plate of shredded beef with a poached egg on top and two baby potatoes which was I think £19 each you could have picked up pulled beef from tesco and popped a poached egg on top for prob a tenner, it definitely wasn't worth that at all. No one came to ask if our food was OK at any point of our meal. I left a fair bit of mine on the plate but the guy didn't think to ask if everything was OK with my meal. All in all was pretty disappointed after leaving £70
