Seen a lady in the line on weekend who polite; reserved will only speak when spoken to. Deep in thought - not sure if she indian but she asks all to pray for her and the family. One volunteer serving seemed to harshly rebuke her after she asked for item. Standing behind her it made me feel so awkward because we are all in need of kindness and understanding and salvation yet she was shouted at and belittled and told to move on. They just didnt wnat to listen to her. I think 2 item was offered and she had dietary issue so she opted for something else which was not accepted. I didn't want to intervene. It made me uncomfortable and highly anxious to watch some people being treated favourably before her they spent a whole 8 mins at the table. The lady wouldn't give her the item she wanted, her attitude was debasing and dehumanising towards the lady. She was getting flustered and she didn't wnat to serve the indian.There was a young man/priest who diffused the situation and said give her. The Indian lady was clearly very distressed as the lady serving her told her move along. How can the people of God serving the blessing given to them by Him portray love and understanding and yet be so disrespectful surely their faith should be exemplified in all aspects of their life? I am an atheist and wanted to join them as their approach seemed to benefit all members of the community but when I personally seen this poor exchange with the indian lady it shook me. I saw an evil power shift of anger and resentment from the lady towards the Indian. And I didnt comprehend as she was there to help and serve the community members. I have stood in the line and there is all sorts of people who attend drug users alcoholics, homeless, community residents, people who just struggling in panademic etc. Each have their own issues and circumstances and all wnat to be free from poverty they are in. I have seen the volunteers help people but this violent reaction towards the indian lady really disturbed me. How can we save members from our communities when we pick and choose who we wnat to help ? It's now the second week that I didnt visit as it has left me disturbed - how can claim to be children of God when there is clear oppression. I wonder if anyone actually thought how it made her feel knowing she took her parcel having been abused in the process, how would it affect her self confidence, how would it affect her family dynamics when she comes home in tears - would they prefer to be hungry or see their family member sobbing? One event can spiral out of control and have a severe impact on a struggling person health and wellbeing. What upsets me even more if the indian lady did nothing wrong she merely asked for a different item then what was offered. If one has a dietary requirement surely this can be catered for when they are helping the masses. Her words were soft, she asked kindly but was aggressively criticised she retaliated by stating the obvious that the women prior to her had the choice from every box. We may see and hear but expect the volunteers to enforce consistency, fairness this is more favorable to God! Many a time I have seen some people treated better than other. I have autism, anxiety and bipolar so everyday is a struggle for me. I feel people have their own personal issues and the staff or volunteers have not got an awareness of that as demonstrated with the Indian. What good is your education, good clothes, charity you offering when someone has to consume it with tears? Is this humanity ?What is god? Or maybe their is no God and the powerful will just press the weak ones into submission as demonstrated - there is no meek ones left to inherit anything as everyone too busy bending the rules for their own victory. I dont care for the indian but the principle is dont take away someone self respect or devalue them just because they are on the other side of the table. It wrong and nothing can justify that type of behaviour. Sinners will always be. I dont want to be associated with such wickedness even if I am in a dark place.
