I look forward to my salsa classes every week with SalsaOxford. Lisa and Mark are both fantastic instructors! They manage to provide a fun, relaxing environment and are always happy to help out if you have any questions or concerns. There is a really great mix of people that attend too, all at different stages. It is a very positive and uplifting environment, with everybody cheering one another on. For anybody looking to start salsa I highly recommend SalsaOxford!

As a VERY nervous beginner/someone who has resisted any form of dancing for a long time, it was surprising to feel almost instantly at ease during my first lesson with SalsaOxford. Lisa is a fantastic teacher with so much knowledge. I now look forward to our lessons without any anxiety, but instead excited to continue on the salsa journey. I've personally found there to be many benefits in taking up salsa class, and not purely from a learning to dance perspective, but in building confidence, not taking life so seriously and having time to not think about much else other than the rhythm, where to place feet and hoping the rest will follow. If you are looking for clear instructions, patience, fun challenges and lots of laughing - I cannot recommend SalsaOxford enough. Thank you both for sharing your passion with us and for showing the joy it can bring

A good club for both beginners and more advanced salsa classes. Meetings are usually 8pm every Wednesday at the Old Fire Station (downstairs) on George Street. Also occasionally upstairs or at the Wesley Memorial Church hall. Sessions run 8pm - 9pm with both beginners and more advanced. Beginners are anyone who cannot do a Cross Body Open (if you don't know what that is: you are a beginner! ;) ) Advanced is held at the same time and is more complicated combinations of the basic steps. 9pm - 10pm There is an advanced-only class, which anyone can stay for. Mark and Lisa also offer private lessons in Kidlington (useful for improving skills) and there are Salsa nights they run every month or so at either the Deaf and Hard of Hearing centre near Westgate, or the Jericho Tavern (useful for putting the moves into practice). I've never been good at dancing or sports but found the lessons encouraging and the coaching useful. If you arrive early, the warm-ups really help, and most people seem patient with the difficult art of "getting" the steps. The only suggestion I have is that there is limited scope for socialising. It would be really good if after the advanced classes there was an agreed venue to go to. Many salsa clubs do this and, alongside the party nights, it would really help to get to know people a little better. That said, I found there is a rounded experience to be had - whether it's just learning the steps for fun, or stretching your abilities. Oh, and I haven't been for a few months owing to other commitments. However the thrill of Cuban Fury is the highlight of a working week and the feeling of carefree grace (after a long day in the office) lingers as a pleasant memory.
