The service at this shop was absolutely disgusting. Yesterday my mother and I went to look for a ready made blouse that would match a sari we already had. At first the owner appeared helpful but was extremely condescending in her tone. She picked out one blouse and when we asked her whether we could let my mother try on another she was extremely reluctant. She insisted that my mother tries the arm of the blouse on and not the whole garment. After much insistence on my part, she finally gave in and rudely directed my mother to the fitting room. Once my mother was satisfied that the fitting was not appropriate, we gave the blouse back to the owner and were about to make our exit. My mother then merely pointed at another rack of blouses when the owner rudely told my mother to "not poke her nose over there" and asked us to move away from the clothes! I've never heard of a shop keeper asking customers to NOT look at what they had to sell! As we were leaving, I felt that I had to let the owner know politely that she had been exceptionally rude to us from the minute we entered her shop, initially watching us like a hawk and then speaking to my mother as if my mother was an uneducated fool. Once I'd told the owner she had been rude and she should treat us a bit better since we are the consumers, she immediately started shouting at myself and my mother saying that we were the rude ones and "making more work" for her by touching her blouses!!! She also yelled that we do not speak english (which was highly inappropriate since we were politely giving her feedback) and that my mother shouldn't be poking her nose into places where she shouldn't be! How disgustingly rude. Eventually she screamed at us to get out! I can happily say that we shall never be setting foot into Sai Datta sarees ever again. We have been told by several family friends that they have had similar experiences at the shop. Some have said that she only likes those people who buy things from her shop. Personally, I felt the need to warn all other consumers out there to stay away from such a poorly serviced establishment. Poorly serviced isn't even the appropriate phrase, the owner has never been taught manners in her entire life. Addendum: I write this addition to my review having written the original 10 years ago. I have not, as stated, set foot in this shop since the initial visit. I had only met the owner once, my views were based purely on this one poor interaction with this lady and I have no other affiliations with any other businesses on Stratford Road. I regular shop in these areas and have had good service elsewhere. My comment is not ‘untrue’ - these reviews are opinions based on true experiences and it would be prudent for the owner to accept feedback and criticism and focus on improving her etiquette and the customer experience to drive up the longevity of her business. It is clear there are some customers who have had good experiences too but my advice to the owner is to accept that not everyone is happy with the service provided at her establishment and we are entitled to provide our reviews.

This has got to be my best experience at shopping for Indian clothes. I've seen so many negative reviews on here, and I can see most of them are competitive business owners- but this place is perfect! Aunty was so accomodating to me- for someone who is very curvy (we are talking size 18/20) she is the only store that has blouses that fit me PERFECTLY. I have never been able to get ready made outfits, but Aunty helped me not only work with things I had brought from other stores, but also find other things to match. Everything is so affordable and both ladies working there were so friendly and helped me find perfect outfits for myself. I literally cannot recommend this store enough, and for those who aren't confident I'm wearing indian clothes, these amazing ladies will not just help you pick stuff out but teach you how to wear and style them. Thank you so so much for all your help and I will definitely see you all soon!

I have been purchasing all my sarees from Sai Datta Sarees for last 30 years since I got married in Birmingham. All her prices are very goid & reasonable. This shop always sell quality sarees which you will not get ON-line or any other shop in UK. I highly recommend you to purchase your next saree from this shop. The owner is always very polite & helpful. She will spend time in helping to select suitable sarees for all occassions: weddings, parties & casuals.

Just wanted to say, the customer service is second to none. As soon as we entered the store we was greeted and asked the type of saree we was looking for and we had received one to one service to cater for what we wanted. The owner of the store was very hospitable and helpful too.The sarees are a very good quality and would definitely recommend!

I have decided to come and second a review wrote by one of my family members. I am actually appalled and shocked about what happened during her visit to the store. After reading and seeing all the other low reviews it seems it's an common occurrence for this woman to behave very rudely and despicably towards her customers it's truly shameful as she claims that she gets 'full customer satisfication after being in buisness for 40 or so years' I am genuinely shocked at how the business has been around for so long as the old woman sounds so horrible and rude and absolutely terrible At her job considering as this is not a one off experience. I highly recommend customers looking for blouses that they walk further Up from this abismal shop and find others along the same road that offer the same service except more humane. Please do not waste your time here unless you are the slimmest/ skinniest person alive as you will be shamed and ridiculed. I hope they take into consideration all the negative reviews and experiences customers are having as this is very unusual to employ someone witch practically 0 customer service skills, maybe they should consider replacing this old lady in this 'family business' and employ someone who is emotionally intelligent about the customers entering the stores. I definitely will be telling my family and friends to never step foot in such a store as there are plenty more along Stratford road that offer the same clothes/design/blouses without the side dish if ridiculing. Judging by the response the owner has given to other low star reviews I can imagine what will be said in response to this review. I honestly don't care if you have sold your products worldwide for the past 40 years, you need to treat your customers much nicer and have patience with your customers as you would want to ensure repeat customers. Having business for over 40 years does not mean you conduct the greatest of service. Sadly the treatment we got in this store guarantees a non-return as well as a bad review to deter others experiencing what we have. EDIT: owner has responded calling this not a genuine review but I can assure it is, there is nothing to be jealous about your poor customer service. Your responses to reviews are not apologetic at all but would like to further leave a bad taste in customer mouths. Hopefully people will read these comments and stay away!

not only did this hag have the AUDACITY to call me a dark monkey!! She even went to try and step on my dog (brown fur) bcuz she was so repulsed by him. When he barked at her and tried to make and escape she bit his leg. Never ever coming back here it smelled like she had foot fungus.
