I was lucky to find a place and staff was very nice and supportive. Training about domestic violence was provided, even a diploma at the end, as well as councelling that was very professional , during all the time I stayed at the Safer places residence. Thank you to all the volunteers that came from their free time to help in the refuge! Your privacy is respected, I had a single room and bathroom for myself , kitchens, lounge and garden for common use. Heating and hot water all the time, kitchen nicely refurbished, even that for 1month the spare one was very busy. I was well treated and the staff have organised activities, donations as cloths, toys, food. You also feel in a safe environment , assured on daily basis, beside the weekly meetings. The staff applied for my housing benefits, register me to the local GP and have given advice for volunteering and contacting the Council for housing application. I even got a welcome parcel, it was "huge" , all good quality cosmetics and perfume. I arrived just before St.Valentine and this welcome by people who didn't know me made me crying. Any place is better than one where you are abused but this is the right refuge. I moved in a temporary accomodation and after 4 months I am still waiting to settle. I feel better now than when arrived and I thinck this is very important. Good luck to you all!

Reaching out to Safer places was the best decision I ever made. I’m so grateful for all the support that I have received from all staff. All were so friendly and supportive. During my stay in refuge I felt protected and safe and had support even when staff were not on site there were still people to call and speak to. Thank you to everyone who got me where I am today!
