A local historic building I most love along with the nearby St Swithun's church. Amazing to think when it was but a small market medieval town here, Greensteede was known to King Henry the Eighth. That building particularly no doubt. Full of history here. Worth a visit in the summer open months. Great local volunteers for guides. Beautiful central courtyard. I've friends live there. Always impressed to recall the famous Good King Wenceslas 1853 Christmas Carol was written here. By our locally living famous clergy priest, known as a leading light of the Oxford Set of Church reformers, John Mason Neale. Whose tomb can still be seen in St Swithun's nearby church graveyard. Writer too of many famous much loved hymns. Neale was one of the earliest and most famous of the Sackville College church wardens.
