We recently have had to sort out collections of large items. The staff we spoke to were excellent. Also, we recently upgraded out property with the help of the council, who were exceptional with advice and very efficient in organising it all. I am disabled and access is very good, any enquiries regarding Council Tax etc; are sorted out quickly and efficiently. One of the best councils I’ve come across.

What a dysfunctional organisation. I have a property that has undergone massive renovation that has involved a huge upgrade in environmental performance. It has been uninhabitable for some time and remains so. I have applied for a reduction in CT and been refused!! And because I informed them it was uninhabitable; they now put an empty property surcharge on. Absolutely incredible!!! If anyone with any common sense in the organisation sees this; please contact me urgently

Ryedale council's service is appalling, their allocation of bins is ridiculous and despite needing a larger bin because I have a disability and my daughter has special needs they won't give us one because we are a family of 4 not 5. Despite almost all of our neighbours, families of 4, 2 and single person households have larger bins. Bins aren't even the only issue I've had, the benefits department staff are rude and disrespectful. They really need to work on their service because it's the worst I've experienced.

If I could give no stars I would. Every time I've spoken to anyone from the council they've been rude and unhelpful. The staff members treat other people like they are beneath them, and are some of the rudest people I've ever spoken to.

Dreadful allocation of refuse bins. My family and I (two children, my partner and myself, as well as a cat) only qualify for a small black bin. Seeing that my eldest child has special needs, and produces somewhat more waste than perhaps usual, we felt it not too much to ask for a more normal size but were refused. The collectors will not take any waste outside of our inadequate bin, and seeing as we dont drive, we have to trudge through town to the tip carrying bags with us. Just a normal size bin for goodness sake. Thats all we're asking for.
