This place helped me out massively when I was a young pup of 18 in early 2003, gave me somewhere safe to call home. I made lots of new friends and lots of opportunities to grow as a person! I think of the place often even though I'm nearly 40 now, my eldest 2 children are by-products of this place as I met their father there! Thank you so so much for everything !!

My journey began with Rush House. From knowing little about the world, having 0 work experience, suffering with poor mental health, and not knowing where to go in life, Rush House picked me up and helped me see my potential. And now I live mental health free, have an amazing partner, have amassed tons of valuable work experience, gained so many new connections and skills, and now work as a Digital Designer for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, where I now work on projects that benefit the community – an actual dream come true!

So my own story with Rush goes back almost 30 years when as a 17 year old I found myself sleeping rough after a family breakdown. Someone mentioned the place to me and I went and knocked on their door. I was given a bed immediately and all the support I needed. In all I spent around 9 months with them firstly in the Emergency accommodation, then bedsits and then two dispersed properties. I finally moved out to set up home with my partner and we went on to have three kids. Fast forward nearly 30 years and I’m back … this time as a Keyworker and I feel like I’ve come home. I’m now able to offer todays young, vulnerable adults all the support I was given - and then some. Support when I was a service user was amazing but compared to support and services offered now it was minimal. We support our young people with everything from tenancy support to benefit claims, casual chats when needed to referrals to specific agencies for health, wellbeing, counselling. We also deliver structured AQA qualifications so that our young people leave us sometimes with their first official qualification. Rush is not just a supported housing scheme either we now help anyone over the age of 16 with EET opportunities through our Brighter Futures project. All our staff have one thing at the forefront of our agendas and that is the health and well-being of our young people

I may be a little biased here but I have worked at Rush since 2003, initially coming in as the "rookie" keyworker and working my way up to my current role of Manager. I can say with 100% honesty and transparency that I've never wanted to work anywhere else since, even in the difficult days. We are passionate and committed to doing the best we can for the people we support. The number of former clients supporting us on social media and coming forward with wonderful comments/sentiments about how we have changed their lives is a testament to this. I couldn't be prouder to be associated with this organisation or to work with such a wonderful group of staff and service users. Do we always get it right? No we don't but we will never stop striving to deliver our vision of "empowering all to be happy, healthy and safe". 40 years done. Here's to the next 40!!!
