We visited the Rural Arts Cafe and gallery whilst passing through the pretty market town of Thirsk on our way home from a short break in the Dales. It's a good stop off point for a light lunch. There's limited on street parking, so we parked at nearby Tescos which about 5 mins walk away. We ordered homemade soup and it came with a freshly made (still slightly warm) cheese scone or 2 very thick slices of artisan bread with butter. There were 3 choices of soup and we had spicy potato and vegetable. I must say, it was absolutely delicious and very warming. There was a selection of light snacks and wonderful looking homemade baking. The staff were very welcoming. The venue is an 'artsy' kind if place with a little gallery of small-ish items made by local artisans. It's definitely worth a visit!
