Review ammend down to 2* from the previous 5 *. I am very disappointed in finding myself in the position of having to remove my glowing review from my first visit to RRG Macclesfield. I've not used RRG for a number of years, and, as my earlier review describes, initially I was impressed with the service reception staff and the work done. I had booked the car in for an air con service and re gas which was done satisfactorily. I mentioned that the brakes did not feel as good as they should and the service adviser told me the car would get a free health check that would cover that. On collection I was told that the front brake pads and discs needed replacing and the rear pads had warn unevenly. I was given the technicians report and notes on what was required was added on to the invoice for the air con repair. I informed RRG that I had covered just over 2k miles since purchasing from a different Toyota main dealer in the south of the country and that I would contact them to seek funding for the repairs due to covering such low mileage etc. The supplying main dealer agreed to fund the rears but were adamant that the fronts would not need replacing and asked for a more detailed report from RRG. A week later I took the car back to have the new rear pads fitted (funded by supplying dealer) and the fronts re inspected. The challenge from the supplying dealer made a miracle occur... this time when RRG inspected the front brakes they were found to be absolutely fine with no work needed. The question is, had I not decided to contact the supplying dealer, would I have recieved a bill for the replacement of front brake pads and disc that obviously did not need replacing. Or, would I have been informed they did not need replacing after all... you decide, but I know what I think. And, on top of that, I'm self employed so lost another day's earnings because of having to go back to RRG Macclesfield! In terms of your response to my feedback. Having listened to the health check video, you will be fully aware that the sound quality on the video is very poor due to the engine running whilst the front brakes were being visually inspected. It is not possible to hear what the inspector is saying. This is why the supplying main dealer (correctly) disputed your claim that they needed replacing, it is also the reason I asked your service adviser to recheck the brake condition report with the mechanic; which she did. I find it concerning that it seems an attempt is being made to apportion blame on the service adviser. By looking at the invoice for the aircon service, it clearly states that the front brake discs and pads require replacing so whatever or whoever RRG choose to blame, there is definitely no misunderstanding on my part as to what happened.
