Small, picturesque, and unstaffed station located on the Hertfordshire/Essex border, with a half-hourly off-peak service for each direction, towards London, and towards Bishops Stortford and Cambridge. You can alight here for scenic walks along the River Stort. However, the frequent passing of trains here can leave the barriers of the level crossing in between the platforms lowered for considerable amounts of time, making the narrow road towards Stanstead Abbots from Roydon Village become very congested, and this is not helped by the way the platforms are staggered, meaning that waiting traffic will have to wait for a stopping service to stop and leave the station. There isn't a footbridge for pedestrians to bypass the lowered barriers here either, causing people to miss their service here. Adequate service and train information is provided here by the live departure boards, along with station announcements, and the station itself has quite a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. However, the car park feels a little un-monitored and run-down.

It is a rather busy line, including the stanstead express and also freight at night. There are no oyster readers, so have to buy tickets on top of your oyster credit, not ideal, better of getting a train from Rye House. Somebody moaning about being held up at the crossing for 16 minutes, because they let too many trains through LOL. You will get held up during rush hour d'uh so choose a different route dimwit.
