This was the first time I met death face to face with my grandad and I can tell you that the nurses that came over to help and give support were absolutely amazing! They really helped my auntie and family during the last moments, even rung up late at times to offer to come over for company and someome to sit with, credit to all of them!

I didn't have a very good experience when my Mum was here in her final days. There was an issue with a nurse not helping to feed my Mum when she was hungry and lost the use of her hands which I believe is quite common in final days. Nurse told my Mum she could do it herself the day before and left. I never did get to the bottom of what happened with that it was swept under the carpet by the nurses manager. When my Mum was thirsty they didn't help her to drink when she actually did want it. When she was unable to use the call button when she lost use of her hands she wasn't checked on very often. When my Mum bucked up for a few days clearly having her last hurrah I was hassled constantly by a social worker trying to move my Mum to a nursing home when it was very clear to me she was dying. And finally my Mum died alone because none of the nurses recognised the signs. So to be honest I found the whole experience upsetting and stressful

Rowans is a five star hospice. All nursing staff and volunteers are extremely kind, understanding and helpful. Nothing has been too much trouble for them. The concern for their patients is outstanding. They go above and beyond in patients care. I cannot praise them enough for every aspect of care from their nursing, rooms, food and concern.

My mum spent the last 3 weeks of her life here. She loved it. The care she received was beyond great. Nothing was too much for any of the staff. We were well informed of my mum's care. I have nothing but praise for these lovely people both staff and volunteers. I would never be able to thank them enough.
