How is the community garden maintained and who is responsible for upkeep?

Our community garden is maintained by a team of dedicated volunteers who are responsible for upkeep. This includes tasks such as watering, weeding, and pruning plants. We also have regular maintenance days where volunteers come together to work on larger projects.

Are there any restrictions on what can be grown in the garden?

We do not have any specific restrictions on what can be grown in the garden, but we do encourage our gardeners to choose plants that are suitable for our climate and soil. We also ask gardeners to avoid growing invasive species that could harm our local ecosystem.

How often are community events held, such as workshops or social gatherings?

We try to hold community events at least once a month, including workshops on topics such as composting and seed starting, and social gatherings such as potlucks and picnics. We also participate in local events such as farmers markets and festivals.

Is there a fee or membership required to participate in the community garden?

We do require a small annual fee to participate in the community garden, which helps cover the cost of supplies and maintenance. We also ask all gardeners to sign a waiver and agree to our garden rules and guidelines. However, we do offer scholarships for those who cannot afford the fee.

I have got to be honest every time I go down to the community garden I have always been welcomed by friendly people and they always have a nice selection of fruit and veg. At least you can just turn up and not be interrogated on why you need there help or have to go somewhere to get a voucher or u don't get served. I hate going into the job centre to try to get a food voucher because u have a 20 minutes interrogation on what u need it for and then it isn't guaranteed that they will give you one. So thank you for what you do. I know it's hard but well done.
