Had a fabulous 3 night stay in Bluebell Lodge. The owners ensure that they present a nice and clean environment upon your arrival and Gary ran through all details of how to work hot tub and helped us with local dining and shops etc. All in all if you are looking for a lovely quiet out of the way quirky, romantic hideaway for a break then you will be hard pushed to find something better if Somerset is your preferred location.

NOTE: This is a LONGtwo sided review... So me and my missus have stayed at the Bluebell Lodge on a couple of occasions and the first time we went in 2020 was just a dream! The service was excellent from the moment we booked and when we arrived, there laid a bottle of processo and box of chocolate at the front door (small touch but just a really nice gesture)... Upon entering the Bluebell Lodge we were presented with the most modern decor in a beautiful open planned space, equipped with a double bed, microwave, small dining table for 2 and a set of takeaway menus (from memory, I think there was about 3 different takeaway menus)... When I opened the fridge we were presented with some fresh pain au chocolates, some plain croissants and some Jams. Again, small touch, but really added to the experience. Once we had settled in, we quickly jumped into the hot tub, and that was pretty much us for the duration of the night. Peaceful, relaxing..everything you could ask for a getaway. We checked out of the Lodge the following day and could not wait to come back!!! Second trip: So we've recently just had our second trip and unfortunately it wasn't quite the same... So check in was 3pm, and we had arrived a little earlier, around 2.30pm and we were told that we need to pay an additional £10 to check in early. Not the biggest deal but we've checked into hotels a little earlier than usual and had no issues checking in early.. if the room genuinely was not ready at 2.30pm that would've been fine and just needed to be communicated, but to ask for £10 for arriving 30 mins early, after a 3 hours car journey just seemed like a money-earning ploy. When we refused to pay we were passed our complementary processco and chocolates through our car window, where we would've liked to have had them presented at the front door of our log cabinet like the first time. Again not the worst thing in the world by any stretch but its those small things that male a big difference. So when we eventually entered the Bluebell Log Cabin, again, the decor was very modern and current. Upon opening up the fridge this time, there was no croissants or pain au Chocolates or Jams which was a bit of a shame and there was only 1 takeaway menu (not a big deal but we had options 1st time round).. We were then greeted by a young lady who explained how to use the hut tub ...now this is where it gets a little upsetting... Now apparently these new hottubs they had needed use to use firelighters, wood and kindling to start a fire to heat up a burner, which in turn heats the hottub. There we no jets, nor bubbles, so it was in fact just a hot bath. And when I say hot, it was HOT! Blazing hot fire was heating the hottub and there was just no way of really regulating the temperature. Not only did this make it extremely uncomfortable to sit in, once we had run out of firelighters, wood and kindling, we were then charged for more of the stuff..(again seemed like a bit of a money-making ploy). For us, the hottub (which had jets the first time round and could regulate the tempatrue) is what epitomised what a relaxing stay is all about.. instead we were in and out of the hot tub trying to either cool down because we were too hot or trying to add more wood to the burner..not ideal. In additional, it looked like the hot tub wasn't really cleaned properly but we tried not to make a fuss of it because otherwise we would not have got in so just trier to turn a blind eye to it. This isn't a review to slam the hosts but I do hope they read this and take some things on board. We had a 10/10 experience first time around but it was a bit disappointing the last time unfortunately and we won't be making the travel down to Somerset again to stay at this resort.

beautiful tranquil location. only a few miles from major shops. a couple minutes walk from local garden center/café/shop. hundreds of acres of land to loose yourself, pure bliss. and then return to a soothing hottub. the lodge has free WiFi. fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven/hobs. the lodge was immaculately clean. all was ready for our arrival. fishing also available on the grounds. the owners were incredibly helpful. looking forward to another getaway soon.
