incredibly dishonest staff and waiters stealing There are just so many restaurants in London please stay away from this one where managing and waiters are dishonest + stealing. Strongly recommend revising hiring policy if waiters so desperate they feel the need to steal a Zara hat. Manager totally incapable of addressing situation. I forgot a hat in shoshu lounge 10 minutes before closure (I was the last of only two tables left). Of course I went there first thing the following morning to retrieve it. Waiter of the night before first thing he says seeing me is that he found the hat (!!). This unfortunately is before being scolded by the receptionist who, right in front of my face, contradicts him staring into his eyes and telling him that it was “really impossible that he found the hat” because there was “absolutely no hat found” and that he should go and “ask Julia” about this hat because he really was not supposed to say that he found it. Mind that the waiter kept insisting with her on the contrary that he was sure the hat was there as he had personally (!!) found it, and he was going to go and get it for me no problem. All this while receptionist tried to tell him that he should have spoken to Julia and adjust his story accordingly. Well needless to say they both disappeared for a few minutes and no hat was ever found. If this weren’t enough suddenly the waiter, as clearly instructed by the receptionist, was now telling me he had never said he found the hat (… if this is not insulting my intelligence…). I’ll spare you the details of the whole following absurd, surreal and embarassing scene with the manager where they kept lying to my face and changing the story told 5 minutes before (i.e. denying that hat was ever found by the waiter who absolutely had never told me so…). Hope Julia enjoys my hat.

We arrived lateish on a week night and we were hungry. £200 later we left hungry and disappointed. Most of the staff had a grumpy vibe about them and the dishes were overpriced for sport. We enjoyed the vegetable tempura but certainly not a £16 dish. The venue is elegant and appealing for sure but when it come to the food and what we paid for it, it was quite forgettable.

Yes it is expensive and the service charge is nearly 15% of your bill - but the tasting menu will be a memorable experience of culinary innovation that'll make you crave for more. The venue is beautiful and the tables are spaced out enough so that you can get some actual privacy. It's a shame it's so expensive because if it wasn't, I'd go every day!
